You’re a nicer guy than I would have been! I can’t believe he had the balls to ask especially using the old “my wife said no” excuse. Hope you find another buyer quickly.
The wife actually came to me about it. Pretty sad.

Long story short. Buyer’s wife was not happy this showed up in her house, and the husband buying it stretched their cash. Asked me to take it back. I guess I have a soft heart. Anyway, it’s back for sale…again.

I recently purchased my first Jeep and its a 2020 Gladiator I found with 10k miles. I was excited when i found the Magnuson SC kit. I figured with the tune and all included and the warranty they advertise, that the tune would be good and safe. Now i was pointed to this Farum and have read several threads about the Magnuson SC and the issues people are having with the kit.

From what I can see its only issues with the tune itself.
Does anyone know if they changed their tune to make it better? They no longer offer the kit with out the tune. I read another post where DaveCS1 stated you had to purchase a new MPVI2+ and 6 credits to use his tunes, because the one that comes with the kit is locked to Magnuson.

so on top of the kit that is 7100.00. the MPVI2+ and credits needed is 700.00

I have also seen Dave and others talking about new idler pulleys and smaller SC pulley and associated tune.

So i guess my question is would this SC kit be worth it for nearly 8000 and the trouble?

I want it for the added power to get out of traffics way on the interstate, and easier towing when we purchase a small camper. Just don't want a constant issue with the Jeep and all kinds of engine codes popping up randomly that need to be messed with and addressed causing a constant headache and keeping me from enjoying my ride.

I have tuned vehicles before (several Mustangs and a scat pack charger) and after tuning none of them really gave me any issues and had great drivability.

Thank anyone for any help/advice you can give.

@Knight if you decide to go with the Magnuson, it's a good thing you got a 2020 model. That being said, it appears that the 2020 model (depending on when it was assembled) has some engine issues that need to be addressed. At 10K miles, you're at a good point to investigate whether you are affected.

I would say that Magnuson produces a solid supercharger from a materials standpoint. There tune is significantly lacking, but you'll lose that warranty using a 3rd party tune. Finally, installing and running the supercharger will expedite the time horizon of you noticing Jeep's own manufacturing/assembly issues with the Gladiator's engine.

So, if you end up shelling out the coin for everything, I would say your first order of business is getting your Gladiator into Jeep to see if they need to correct some of their own issues. Because once the supercharger goes on, they're gonna wash their hands of you.

Best bet would be some gears and tune.
I bought my kit used. Did install myself, so have about 4500 into it. Don’t get me wrong, truck runs great. I know I’m on borrowed time however, but it won’t be bc of the magnuson.
The SC def makes more power, but it’s not a mind blowing change.
Combine that with the fear of a wot interstate pull and throwing a rod, probably not worth an $8k+ expense.

If you have to ask if a different tune makes it better, I don’t think you can assert that the tune is the only issue. Just a thought.

I think you’d have to accept that you’d basically be on borrowed time.

What issues? I haven't heard anything about this. What do I need to look for?

I am going through jeep customer care right now to get the "improved steering feel" TSB performed.
The first dealer i brought it to lied and procrastinated until i was out of 3/36k warranty on years and then lied to jeep customer care when they called them. My current dealer is trying to get it done though.

I was under the impression it was at a safe boost level and would be stable and reliable but looks like i was wrong.
Would enjoy the extra power but with this info idk.

I considered gears but never really planned on going hard core off road or bigger than 37's and the Mopar 2" lift i have sitting here.
Probably roll on 35's for quite some time if not forever honestly

Between all the blower related problems and the shit storm AMW has become doing hemi swaps, I’m just wondering if anyone does a solid middle of the road LS swap that will provide 500 reliable HP without the drama that seems to plague the other 2 options.

Dude I didn't know people were having lots of problems from the Hemi swaps. I think the 5.7 Hemi would be a great fit for the Gladiator.

Read through the following thread, and you'll see what I am referring to.

Is the AMW kit itself bad, though? I saw one guy suggest getting the swap, but having a partner shop do the install.
