Hi everyone. We got my wife a base model sport with manual headlights. I bought the switch and the sun sensor for the dash. Apparently all I need to do now is wire them up and use j scan or something. Can anyone help me with that part? I don’t have j scan. Is there another way or do I need to use j scan? Could a dealer get it working for me?
thank you.

A dealer probably could, but the same dealer would charge you more than the cost of everything for J-scan.

Is it not easier to train the wife?

You can use either JSCAN or AfaOBD as far as software - you'll need the security bypass cable and a Bluetooth adapter.
However, both of those pieces of software are great for a whole lot more than just this.

There are other ways - but more expensive.
If you want to make such changes, best get used to having to make changes inside the modules and that means software or some means to make such changes. You can't flip a switch, sorry.

Thank you everyone. I might just get j scan. Just don’t know how hard it is to use.

There are a couple of decent facebook groups - one is from JSCAN guy himself, another is a JSCAN user group.

You can find support here, or there, either way. Quite a few members here use it.

I too bought a Sport for the simplicity. I actually tried to order one without seats but they wouldn’t let me. The only feature I would have added is auto headlights only because my other vehicles have it and I forget to turn on the headlights at dusk. I’m old school and feel like the power windows and locks is a luxury for a Jeep.

enabled JScan -> Adaptation -> Auto Headlamp & Auto High Beam - Settings -> Auto Headlamp Feature Present On/Off, - Target Value = Active.

enable JSCAN -> Modules -> Body Controller -> Configuration -> Headlamp on with wiper customer settings menu -> Set
This was from another thread we had on the 2024+ adding Auto Headlamps feature and the JScan setting to enable it courtesy of @webduelist. Would imagine it be the same for prior year JT's.

I miss the days when it just took a new right stalk and steering column cover to put cruise control on my 2010 Sport JKU. Just plug and play.

I did an entire engine change, PCM, PDC and custom engine bay and dash wiring harness to get cruise in my 82.
Then I found the NOS turn signal stalk with cruise control switches worked almost opposite of what the donor Jeep's PCM was expecting, so had to make a circuit to convert the switch signals and put in a VSS between speedometer cable and transfer case to get cruise in my car.

But now I have cruise in my car with a T5 manual transmission.
