This would be great to see. MT’s are a rare breed anymore.

I love my MT Gladiator. There is definitely room for improvement though. The clutch is too light sometimes, and if it thinks you’re slipping the clutch too much it cuts power which immediately results in killing the engine. It makes it a bit tricky.

All that being said, I would buy another MT. The open air experience while rowing through the gears is well worth dealing with the shortcomings in my opinion.

Would have loved a manual behind my 3.0 diesel. An NV4500

I completely agree, the 3.73’s make the gearing way too tall (I can’t speak to the 4.10’s), especially reverse. Parking a camper in a sandy campsite up a small incline was very difficult!

A bump in tow rating would be a welcome change for sure.

I had the manual gladiator, the gearing sucked and the tow rating. You'd think engineers could figure out a decent solution for the price of these trucks. It's not new science, manuals have been around a long time and have backed high power motors and towed high weights.

He mentioned how a manual Wrangler has a superb 100:1 crawl ratio when equipped with the 4.88:1 axle ratio, matching the now-discontinued Wrangler 4xe.
They already know the answer.

6MT JT is a great option, unless its like the 6MT Mojave my cousin had that spent more time in its first year in the service bay than on the road or trail. It was lemon lawed.

He's got a Willys JT now.
Same for me... spent more weeks in service than on the road... had to switch it out with the 25' Mojave no Stick.

I hope they zero in on all these things. 4:56 gearing on sport/sport s should of been standard and higher trims should been able to have the 4:88 long ago. Aisin Transmission can handle decent torque output and lets hope they are working with a real clucth compony like a Mccload, ACT or Centerforce. In a few years when my current one is paid off i would love to get one

"We have another car that looks like a Wrangler that’s getting its manual back. Stay tuned." – Aamir Ahmed, Jeep global head of off-road and EVs.

Speaking with Jeep at the 60th annual Easter Jeep Safari, CarBuzz learned the company has plans to bring the [manual transmission] option back.

Though he didn't mention the Gladiator by name, Jeep's global head of off-road, Aamir Ahmed, said the manual transmission was still very important to the brand. He mentioned how a manual Wrangler has a superb 100:1 crawl ratio when equipped with the 4.88:1 axle ratio, matching the now-discontinued Wrangler 4xe. Ahmed even went so far to say Jeep will bring back the manual transmission in a model that previously offered it. That can only mean one vehicle: Gladiator.

"That can only mean one vehicle...."

Well, I don't want to piss in your pudding, but they could also bring it back in the Grand Cherokee. That did used to come with a manual transmission. It's been a few decades, but still...

Technically they could be bringing it back for the Grand Cherokee.
That's what I said. But I just realized they could also revive it in the Cherokee too.... 6spd in an EV!
