So as always, I cannot not mod my Jeep. Guilty as you probably are as well. Had a $250 Amazon gift and got this for $244 cdn. Ive had my eye on the Mishimoto unit since my 2020 3.6 but went with the Mopar mainly because it was sealed and allowed the use of my AEV snorkel.
To start I modded my factory snorkel piece to allow more airflow while maintaining the stock water fording capacity. Drilled holes as seen.
Second I added some EZ fender trim I had leftover to keep hot air away from the Mishimoto open top airbox lid. As seen attached. The main reason obviously is to eliminate any hot air from the intake but improve air flow. I think this should work and if not I have my 2020 air box still.
The rest was very straightforward, one of the easier intakes to install, pretty much identical to the Mopar unit minus the filter element style lid.
Took it for a 20 minute drive and noticed some nice growl but nothing excessive, just right and the throttle seems to tip in a smidge better. Is it worth it? For $244 sure, but not at $494cdn but its fun to add and fun to listen to. Mishimoto claims an average 10hp 11lbft. One improvement, i wish they would include a silicon air box plug.
