Mods: Regrets and Required

sunrider, lange originals coyote mirrors, tonneau

mods i wouldn't want to live without:
armorlite, apex autolynx, arb twin on-board, diode dynamics elite headlights, diode dynamics 3k fogs, katzkin leather, bolt hood lock, rokblokz

mods i could have done without but still enjoy:
35s, steel wheels, xr extension flares (though for the wheel offset and tire width I picked these are necessary), Loyo sequential turn signals, CJpony taillights

mods i would skip if i had it all to do over:
none

Spend your money slowly and mindfully and you wont have any regrets.

Rock Blocks immediately, I beat the hell out of my door hinges from road cinders right after i got my JT. I went with weathertech initially, which were fine but wanted larger ones for better coverage so went with Rock Blocks.

If you think you might want 37's one day just get them, I wasted money going with 285/75r17's when I already knew I wanted to go bigger. Just wait until you can get exactly what you want then get them. Get a decent lift for what your intended tire size will be. I started with the terra flex 1.5 and now that I have the 37's need to go bigger. I intend to install a BDS 3 inch lift in the next few weeks, I like their warranty and have great reviews from my off road shop. FYI 37's will fit with the terra flex 1.5 with zero rubbing, but I would not off road with it like that. Also think about re-gearing if you are going with 37's, I have the 3.73's and they actually work just fine I get around 17 mpg with them in the WV hills which is still decent in my opinion. I will be installing 4.88's but is it an absolute must have... not really, but I do plan to do some towing and I want the low end grunt.

Tazer was a good purchase and I like having the option to change things. I've changed my tire sizes twice now and have made several other changes to include the auto off option.

Installed a midland GMRS radio thinking I would use it on trails.... have yet to use it other than turning it on, have not yet talked to one single person on there.

Sunrider is a must have, regret getting the fancy sunscreen and will probably remove it from the Sunrider this spring. It is ok but kind of in the way, a cheap sunscreen will probably work just fine.

Barricade slider steps, they are great steps well built and very heavy. They fit over the Rubi rails and they look good; However I don't feel they are wide enough to function as a decent step and my Mother has a hard time getting in. I will probably replace them with a different step eventually.

Cold air intakes really do nothing to enhance performance, they do make more noise under the hood if that is what you are looking for. I've actually been through three different ones and am finally happy with the S&B, it is less noisy than the other two (rough country** do not recommend bad fitment see last comment/ and Injen good quality but very noisy).

Hike It throttle booster, I can take it or leave it. It does help with the pedal lag initially but you just get used to it just like the factory.

MBRP Black Series dual exhaust, I like having a little sound out of my vehicles and have had an exhaust on every vehicle I have owned. I don't feel it adds much if any performance value but that was not my intent. The MBRP doesn't have a ridiculous loud sound and is just right for what I wanted, and I like the look of the dual exhaust. I am sure if I am doing any serious off roading then the tips will most likely drag.

As others say many times buy once cry once so get exactly what you think you might want the first time instead of going the cheaper route as you probably will not be happy and will end up spending more money in the long run.

I could probably have done fine without any mods so most of them were vanity sake. Things like front bumper which was needed to put a winch that I have only used a few times for odd jobs but felt that having it just in case. Larger Tires just cause I couldn't stand the look of the thing on those rims and tires it came with. Auxillary lights only get used occasionally. The things I got immediately that benefited me were spray in bedliner, Hard Bed Cover, soft top, moving from Halogen to LED lights. I don't have to deal with snow

First things on my Gladiator were bed liner and a bullet point phone mount. I would absolutely do both of these again; my liner cost less than the factory option and turned out really well. I love the bullet point mount.

On my wrangler I installed some cheap Amazon fender flares. I'm pretty happy with them but they are really narrow and because of that I throw up rocks into the side of my Jeep a lot more. Going forward I won't use narrow flares again.

On my wrangler I installed a stubby antenna and promptly lost several radio stations. Not a huge deal for me but annoying.

So, I'm new to Jeeps as a whole. Back when i couldn't afford anything I just wheeled old used Toyotas and built em out of FB marketplace second hand parts. Now I got a brand new jeep. Its a blast to wheel and is mind blowing what it can do stock. But as we all know, nothing is stock forever. With that as the theme, What was a mod you utterly regret doing and what was one that you will always do everytime you get a new rig?

I haven’t been able to get out on any group rides yet, I do plan to use it eventually if I ever get more free time.

My group is always on channel 17 no codes. you might hear us out there occasionally. also u can just use the radio seek function and it'll cycle channels automatically till it finds an active convo.

Tazer was a game changer for me.... I was looking at a pedal Commander also but saw where someone mentioned to turn off traction control and man its like night and day difference in throttle response so I saved that wasted $.

37s and Rock Trix wheels out the gate with no regrets. Teraflex 1.5 level kit and Synergy sector brace kit otw as well as a upgraded stabilizer in an attempt to cure the wandering that's been there since it was stock and brand new.
