Okay, I am going to say it. I don't have an issue with the ducks. I remember the first time I got one and I was genuinely pleased at the gesture. Over the years I got a few more, and honestly I can tell you when and where each one arrived. I keep about a half dozen on the dash, and one special one on one of the dash mounted phone mounts.

They come down when going off road - one way or another. (I throw them in the back seat floor, or they throw themselves everywhere.) They can get in the way when I use a sun screen on the dash, but they are nonetheless each a memory.

For those that don't know, the Duck Duck Jeep thing was started by the late Allison Parliament as a random act of kindness during a time that we needed that. I try to honor that thought as practically as possible. And yes, I occasionally 'duck' other Jeeps.

All that said, I agree that over packed dashes are silly and can even be a dangerous driver distraction, and stuffing your own dash is questionable. They missed the point. It's about sharing a smile with someone, not putting up your next bikini clad IG post. Hmmm, I am starting to feel some mall-crawler rage brewing. You know, the Jeeps that 'look like' they can take on the Rubicon, but have never been - and will never be - off pavement . . . (I digress)

Smile, be happy, let someone else be happy . . .

I know there is someone on this forum who likes ducks because without exaggeration I would say nine out of ten Jeeps where I live have ducks lined up on the entire dash. I don't get one real often but when I do I put them on the vehicle next to me.
Absolutely. It seems nearly every Jeep I drive by in the DFW area has a small village of ducks on the dash.

I'm not a fan of the ducks. My young son however thinks they are cool and loves to duck other Jeeps. So I decided to let him invade the right side of my dash with them while he's young. We have little battles where I will randomly judo chop them all off the dash and he will then set them all back up in "attack mode". They may not be my thing, but making my little dude laugh sure is.

My wife always gets a smile when she gets a duck on her little 2 door Rubicon, so I bought her some to give out to others since she likes that sort of thing.

I just give the ducks I get to her for regifting…

I'm not into the duck thing but my neighbor just graduated from college and her parents helped her buy a new 2 dr Wrangler. Basic but very nice. Wouldn't you know, within a week, the duck collection started and within a month the dashboard was completely full. She's a very sweet girl and even put a couple of them on my hood one morning and now I sort of need to keep them on the dashboard, at least when it's parked at home.

But look at the bright side. I'd rather see people decorate their Jeeps with some ducks on the dashboards than having balls hanging off the trailer hitches. Think about it.

I was at Hobby Lobby last weekend with the wife. I usually check out the automotive signage and wall art to see what's new... They had a bag of ducks for sale with the jeep stuff.

I have never been "ducked" and always see dashes of jeeps with full of ducks. I'm convinced they buy them for themselves.
That's the correct way to signal that you want to "play" the duck game. You buy a "seed duck". The rule should be "don't leave ducks unless you see ducks", a good number of Jeep owners don't have any interest or get annoyed at people leaving crap on their vehicles. Only duck people who want them.

It's no longer Jeeps, I saw a dash full of ducks on a 10 year old stock RAV4, on basic F-150s, and a dozen other Mobility Blob generic cars.
It was a mini thing before jeeps, and there are zero rubber fowl on my mini or my jeep

The obsession with children's bath toys is both concerning and disturbing. I miss the Jeeping days before the ducking duck fad started.
I want to say something bad but I will just totally agree with you.

Well they can go duck each other to pieces for all I care. If they want to make me happy they can keep that crap to themselves.

What happen to being practical...
why not just leave money, jeep parts, or Booze ...

Maybe I'll buy a bunch of nips of various types and pass it out to bad ass jeeps without F'n ducks...
...Hell maybe I'll go out on a limb and toss a couple pink whitneys to the my little pony blue ovals

I traded an F150 FX4 SuperCrew for my first Gladiator. I was used to lots of nice, flat, real estate, and plenty of hidey-holes to lay down hats, glasses, sunglasses, wallets, phones, guns, knives, whatever....

The Jeep? Not so much, so I’m not giving up prime flat real estate for plastic ducks identical to the ones in the bath tub my four year old granddaughter uses.

Agreed.

I don't care who has what on their dash.

It makes people happy, let them be happy.

At no point in my life am I going to be miserable and angry at shit that makes other people happy and hurts me in no way.

Every duck on my wifes Jeep was given to her, or me, directly, usually by a child, who was so happy to see another Jeep.

I could be a real man and tell the little downs syndrome girl who raced up to give me a batman duck in the parking lot to get that sissy commie crap out of my face you little loser... And then post on the internet about what an alpha I am...

Or I could so, OMG what an amazing duck! Thank you so much! Here I have one for you too!

And go about my day, cost me nothing to make those people happy, why shouldn't I?
