Yep, you can just grab the rear corner, or wedge your fingers under this weather strip REALLY EASILY, and voila.

The top material is awesome. I love how it rolls up, i love the weekend warrior position, but if you buy one, i wouldn't leave anything valuable in it. It takes one kind of thief to take a knife to your soft top, it takes another to just open it. Now i've gotta decide between this and going DiamondBack now. Those things are STURDAY!

This side weather stirping is nice, i bet it keeps most of the water out. saw a few videos of these flapping around a bit at speed, but even then you would need lateral spray to get under it.

Whoever told @BestopTeam Cassie that its "next to impossible" to open is DEAD WRONG.
Yes, you would need to open the tailgate, there is some tension that holds it in place and makes it difficult, if not impossible to open without opening the tailgate.

Hope that helps!

I'm not here to point fingers or anything, so please nobody get upset with me, i'm just stating my observations and experiences. I would say it should stay down and won't pop open, MOST people wouldn't even think of walking up to somebody elses vehicle and putting their hands on it. It will be EASY for anybody curious, without knife.

This little weather seal is all that's holding it down. The tailgate smushes this into the tonneau frame. I KNEW and @Jake from state farm KNEW something had to be up if there was no mechanical "mechanism" as TFL explained in that video to keep this down. Buyer beware!

I would also like to state for the record that I may be quick to conspiricy-ize something, but its usually not completely unfounded. I feel vindicated, lol. I would lump @Jake from state farm into this too, but I didn't ask him. I believe our heads/hearts are in the right place. Maybe not always accurate though,:CWL::CWL::CWL:

Thanks for reading!:captain:

I still ordered one. I mean if we talk talking secure, on the soft top you can just unzip the windows and you are in. Same concept - one type of criminal to slag a whole other to unzip.

Absolutely! I'm not trying to deter people from buying one, i just want them to be informed about the possibliities. I don't usually drive around with valuable stuff in my van CURRENTLY, i don't know why all of a sudden with a truck i would willy nilly leave tools or guns in the back, lol.

If your still by this Gladiator you think you can measure the bottom of the bed to the roof? I’m curious how tall of a tire will stand in the bed and not be over the roof.

Sorry i'm not. I did measure the 2x4 locations in the bed though, 49" over wheel wells and like 57 1/2" for the double stacked section. I would custom cut this by making it a bit bigger and just barely trimming the edges for a snug fit.

But for your question @pilotpat will maybe have a Rubicon soon......

Hey guys and gals I always promoted the mysterious, elusive, unseen, unshown, hidden hard trifold cover. Jeep keeps that cover like the Lock Ness Monster, hidden from the public but professed to actually exist. And if Jeep will never ever release that then there’s lots of hard tonneau cover companies out there that will come out with them for the Gladiator. Give em a few months to be able to have them ready for the market.

And again, for the record I don’t work for State Farm, never did and I use Geico for all of my insurance needs. But hey you already knew that. Thanks for the chuckles. Too damn funny!

Security aside, I didn't order the tonneau because the last one I had got incredibly hot underneath...and there should be numerous aftermarket options real soon. At least with a shell or topper (even soft) you can usually open windows or side panels to allow some air circulation. I plan to keep a frig back there, as I have done with every vehicle I've owned for the last 20 years. I'll be selling my 63-quart standard ARB frig before the Gladiator gets here and ordering ARB's "Elements Weatherproof" model that will be chained or otherwise permanently mounted in the bed of the Gladiator.

Fortunately there will be a power plug in the bed of your Gladiator for that refrigerator.

If I'm buying a soft top security isnt even on my list because anyone with a knife can get in easily, I'd buy a soft top because they're lighter and less bulky and keep things out of sight from prying eyes

I've always run my fridges from 12 volt and the Gladiator's plug is 120...so we'll have to see if I can still plug it in directly...not sure. I currently run mine either from a 12V plug in the bed of my truck that runs to the vehicle battery, or from an ArkPak containing a $900 Lithium deep-cycle battery that sits next to the frig.
