Recently deleted '21 Eco and loving it.
One thing I have been noticing is the cold idle behavior. Whether it's actually ambient cold or just a cold start, I get a pretty high RPM idle until I get it into gear. It's been 55F here in the morning and I am still getting a significant cold start idle bump. I was wondering if this is part of the delete tuning or maybe my Tazer "winch mode" is actually working on the diesel after the delete? LOL. I have not contacted Martin yet as it's just a curiosity thing at the moment. I noticed this on the stage 2 +30 as well as the stage 2 ECONO tunes when flashed.

Mine seems pretty aggressive with the cold start idle, and it’s not that cold here. It does come down pretty quickly once running/driving.

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same. I did remove my Tazer and it still did it after work today. It's 60F today. It seems a little unusual but meh whatever.

Yeah stage 2 cold start is a bit more aggressive, it functions perfectly fine in my experience though and will progress through the idle down increments as it gets warmer. Step on the brake before putting it into gear and watch the RPMs drop to 8-850 no issue irrespective of outside or fluid temps.

This is all great info. Thank you guys for sharing your experience. I'll just continue to enjoy the glorious stage 2 freedom. Best thing I ever did to this rig.

I recently did the stage 2 delete with the tow tune and my cold start idle is similar to what you are experiencing. My only drawbacks so far is that I actually dropped in mpg compared to the Stage 1 delete and my truck now has a strong diesel odor. Ive had multiple 3/4 ton diesel trucks before and this is a stronger odor than my previous rigs. Other than that, I love knowing that I no longer have to worry about that expensive exhaust goibad.

Interesting. I have tried the Stage 2 +30 and ECONO (tow tune as well) and I got 4mpg improved fuel economy with both for mixed city/hwy driving. I was expecting a better MPG with the ECONO but it was no different than the +30. I don't have any real noticeable diesel odor though. Yes, it is more pronounced than before the delete, but not bad.
You are tuned with MRTuning/EOC as well?

I'd check for a leak around the gaskets of the new system and plug plates. Could be the cause of both the smell and mileage concerns. Just an idea without knowing the details

The cold start high idle is pretty aggressive. If you press your foot on the brake the idle should drop some. If it doesn't, might be something else.

Even though there is an automatic high idle when cold you can also adjust the idle manually with the plus and minus button on the steering wheel without a tazor.
Pretty nice feature to keep the high idle going even if the engine is warmed up already if you are jumping someone or have a load on the electrical.
