Very True.....

Is there a dealership training class somewhere that teaches them how to be the biggest asshole?
its page 2 of the dealer manual. They put it into video format here,

I am on sure why but that car sales has evolved into a profession as corrupt as the Mexican government. There is no one person or entity to blame. There is only an ever present infectious virus that simply cannot be overcome. A car dealer who attempts to be honest will simply be run over by the cash flow generated at the corrupt ones. The sales staff lives with pathetic pay for reasons which have to be suspect. I can think of no other demographic so caught up yen drug dependence tempered with a complete lack of conscience.

Read the forum. Do your homework. Establish an FCA affiliates reward or tread lightly number. Yes, I know the gladiator is not currently eligible but that will change.

Never ever talk to a salesman. Do your deal over the phone with the sales manager and resist every attempt when they say “come on down so we can deal “. If they don’t want to play fair simply hang up.

While waiting for my diesel Gladiator, we just purchased a Wrangler Rubicon Saturday on an impulse. My wife thought it was cool but if we would’ve made the mistake of talking to one of those scumbags walking around the parking lot it would not of happened.

As I research with dealers in Atlanta about available vehicles I NEVER give my phone number. They email about wanting my number to talk, when can I stop by and how they would like to make me a deal. When I say I want 7% under factory invoice, I never hear from them again...

Things will change dramatically when JT inventory starts to stack up on the lots. 120 units in route now for the Atlanta area with more showing up on-hand every day. Just need to wait them out to get what I want.

Here's a little PSA:
If you already have one on order, when you show up to a local dealer, don't tell them about it if you want them to let you test drive their truck. The way they see it, there's no way they're going to sell you a truck today and a test drive is only added risk and miles they have nothing to gain from. They should still not be a dick about it, but it's understandable they're not bending over backwards to please you. Not saying this was the case with OP, but I keep reading about members telling their local dealers about the great deal they're getting and the dealer just rolling his eyes. I think you'd feel the same way if a customer came into your place of work and wanted to tell you about the great deal they just got by not using you.

It’s good to vent, but as others have said, the power lies in the douchebags hands right now. If you want to bend over a dealer right now, find one flush with 2018 Wrangler JKs. They are getting desperate fast and if you are going to build an off-road monster, starting cheap with a JK is a good idea.

Back to the Gladiator. I too am frustrated with dealers today. I’ve been chasing after this high residual lease deal that many websites are saying is still happening. It took me 7 dealerships in my area to even get one to admit they had the Sport base model that is holding the high residual. Great! I’ll take it! “Oh we aren’t offering any lease deals right now”. But but but! I know all about it here is a list of links. Silence.

One other poster said it. Every scumbag lack of conscience toolbag druggie I went to high school with fits into several professions, and car salesman is high on the list. Avoid these nuts at all cost.

i am sorry but its not for me. that to me just doesn't look as good as the JL Rubicon jeep. i know you didn't ask for my opinion but any time you put something on social media people will give their opinion. its just to square in the back for me. but i know they will sell a lot of supply and demand

To many people with money will but them at any price. if everyone would sit back and make them reduce the price it would be funny because they would.. but in about 6 months they will be selling them below invoice without a doubt just like the JL did

I had no problem with family Jeep in Philadelphia they let me test drive it right away in fact I test drove a Rubicon first and then they took the Overlander out of the showroom let me test drive that and then they offered me a couple thousand dollars I think it was three and change under MSRP. I read an article about where the dealers make their money where most of the money and it's on a trade in and that was where we had to negotiate a little bit but they came up and I bought the car phone always good experience.

Alright honest to god who can justify paying 60k plus on a mode of transportation haha. If your gonna pay that at least don’t pay MSRP. These guys are fools. I’m speechless honestly
If you think a Jeep is ONLY a mode of transportation, you are probably driving a Ford...oh wait - sorry.

@ralphjjr I am surprised you don't like car shopping and want to buy it off Amazon (since you are pretty knowledgeable and from your posts seems like you make good decisions LOL). I love car shopping and the haggling experience cuz I go prepared and make sure I get the best price possible. I feel that if I bought a car at Amazon, I would be missing out on better deals. Most dealerships I have been to treated me fine, except for this one time when I was shopping for a BMW M4 coupe for my gf, the salesman thought that we couldn't afford it for some reason, when in fact we were going to pay cash for the vehicle. I went to speak to his manager and told him that he just lost a sale cuz of his ignorance :giggle:. So, you do tend to have those experiences, but I do like the process of buying cars because I believe I am a good negotiator and get the best price for me. Since, this is pure capitalism the dealers try to rip the unprepared ones so that it evens up. And if some people don't get ripped off, we won't get the best deals as the dealers need to work on the median curve - at least that's my theory ;).
I’m actually terrible at negotiating. For two main reasons, 1) I hate the person I need to be to negotiate effectively. I feel like I turn into a monster lol and I’m a lover, not a fighter lol
2) The effort of negotiation, for me, rarely equals the value I receive - if that makes sense.

I want to walk in and walk out. So I can enjoy the thing as quickly as possible.
Like when I go to the supermarket, or Best Buy.

That’s why I’m glad about Travis and Spencer and the others. Just walk in to a good deal.

I am with you 100%. I'm good at it but hate it, hate it, hate it. I have been teaching sales people most of my career to sell honestly, to build value and close the sale. So when I deal with a car salespeople I see the worst and I hate it.

Actually, it's quite easy I learned years ago. 1st off, going in know what you want to pay, 2nd, be willing to walk out at any moment. NFG.

I agree. The 2 most powerful negotiating tools you can have is information and your feet. Tell them no and walk out.
