….. yup everyone he didn’t do the stubby antenna OMG! …..Jack
Lol

it actually serves as a good indicator of roof clearance on the trail and also on the random chance I need to get into a parking garage

thankfully I have a tall door at my home & shop

Finally getting there, I have a Next Venture Modular skid for oil pan also, did you have to drill out a hole in the skid for the factory skid bolt, I did and sent photos to them of it as it was no big deal but others sometimes stubble over easy stuff. Oh yeah awesome exhaust , is sound ok?…..Jack
I can’t believe you have not done the most important and usually first mod everyone does…....
The skid itself needed some trimming. I have a much larger crossmember there compared to factory

yes they got wind this project about halfway through. I wasn’t willing to agree to it until I checked the tires out myself and ran them over the road so that was an overnight sticker edition. As with other things I retained full autonomy to report any findings though.

For a very aggressive tire, my first impression is that they run incredibly well over the road. Be interesting to see how the wear is but I’m a big fan. There was another tire I was planning on running, but it just could not become available on my timeline and so far I’m not mad about it
You won’t regret it. I’m on my second set of 37’s and I can’t imagine using a different vendor. I’ve convinced 4 friends to switch to them so far.

They are considerably lighter than the tires I had intentions to run which I feel like really positively contributed to the power and more importantly, stopping power it has.
I haven't driven it long enough to get any sense of fuel mileage but considering the gears are still technically breaking in, I saw 21 cruising on flat ground at 72 for a couple miles, which if anywhere close to accurate is all I could possibly hope for. If it were to turn out to be 20 that would be 540 miles of range

I was also surprise to not hear any whistle from the rear crossbars.

Awesome build. It is similar to mine. I have crazy flex and have yet to find an obstacle that I can't get over yet. The biggest issue I have is the just the length. The bobbed bed is on the list but I don't like the motobilt one so I will be shorting the existing bed. I did find it easier to shift into neutral to control the braking then fight the torque of the diesel which just powered through the brakes in 4lo. Yours looks awesome and can't wait to see the final build. I am running Dana U60 Axles w\4.88 gears on 42x13.5R20 and I am averaging around 15.6mpg according to Fuelly over the last 6,000 miles with my highest being 18.6mpg.

yours looks great!

just for your information here there are some significant differences between our jeeps.

Thats a gen 1 RK 3 link which has different mounts at all 3 points on the frame and axle side up front which is why your arms are bent and the ark of travel takes an elliptical path which is easier for your eyes to detect looking at how the passenger rear doesn’t follow the frame but both ends are behaving similarly.

the rear isnt similar at all however because this kit has true horizontal and vertical triangulation keeping the axle pivoting left to right and the pinion pointed at the transfer case when the axle is moving through the complete range of motion vs the rear tracbar in yours inducing the yaw I addressed in paragraph 1. The side bonuses being no torque squat no changes to the instant center under panic stop, emergency lane changes or expansion joints.

on the mpg front the reason im seeing more mpg is because the overall weight, total height (2”) , tune and rotating mass is lower. Depending on what you keep in your bed and how much that rear bumper weighs, by rough estimate your jeep weighs ~ 450 lbs more than mine when accounting for the shocks, lightweight brakes, aluminum steering, suspension and armor, the exhaust plus the additional 88lbs of rotating mass.

as far as brake push through thats tbd but I have changed the valving in the brake booster and I have short travel 6 piston calipers which more clamping force than typical 1 ton chevy style brakes. Its almost too much on the road it will take some getting used to.

id love to catch a trail with you soon any plans to come out west?

Also I was using voice text at a red light so if any of that reads weird let me know

never had a vehicle with a hype video before
I’d love to talk brakes sometime if you’re willing. Mine really pushes through them with the 5.13’s in low. Better rotors and pads helped in traffic with the weight of the rig, but did very little offroad. I’ve considered the teraflex option, but haven’t settled on anything.

It can wait way longer. Trying to switch houses. Huge garage is hopefully going to happen finally. Then projects galore. Not that I’m not already constantly doing projects; but I’m excited to not do them in the snow. :)

Sounds like we got two things to discuss in the future 😉
