None of the options really work for me, and probably a lot of others here in very sunny, hot climates (South Florida in my case). In my '16 JKU, with factory half doors (back when they were a no-cost option), I have never, and I mean never, had the top off. The sun beating down on my head is not needed. I have also never removed the freedom top panels or whatever they are called on my '24 JTR.

What works here is what I like to refer to it as the "golf cart effect." In my JKU, I haven't had the windows and rear zipper sides on the JKU since about October, when the rainy season ends. It is totally open, except for the rear zippered panel/window which I keep in to prevent unexpected rain or other stuff to blow back into the Jeep. But it will be totally open, except for the top and rear window otherwise until May or whenever the monsoons begin here... lol.

I would do the same thing with the JTR and find a good set of half doors. The problem is, I only have a car port in my yard that holds one vehicle. So I can't leave an open vehicle here, even in the dry season, since it still may unexpectedly rain at a moments notice. I've already had soaked seats several times in the JKU and don't want the same thing to happen to the JTR.

So goes South Florida.

I disagree with the open top being the original attraction of Jeeps. For many of us it's always been the ability to go anywhere. The ability to run topless/door less still exists, but it's not why we own Jeeps. Between the dust, mud, snow, and 115⁰ plus weather that are all common in the desert and the fact that we always have our dogs with us the top and doors stay in place year round. The freedom panels come off on occasion but even if the Jeep had a steel top and non-removable doors we'd still own them for their capability..
Dick Cepek, the father of off-roading, agrees with you and favored closed, air conditioned 4X4s.

Driving doorless is so much fun.
I like the doorless look with a bright
body color matching top and fenders.
Keeps the hot sun off of your head.

It would take me half an hour to get everything out the cab so I can drive it doorless 😂
That’s very true. That’s why when I do it it’s almost always just the front doors. I just toss everything in the back seat. The trunk of my convertible in the early 2000’s was so full of crap I don’t want to blow away, I couldn’t get to my spare.

My golden rule on my naked summer was simple, leave Nothing inside the cab at all for them to steal, it was weird at first, but the habit has carried over after putting everything back on for the Idaho winter…the perk, cab is still clean.

Mine came with a soft top . I just wish I could fold back the top to only uncover the two front seats and not all 4 . Have uncoverd it only one time in the spring and what a mess when parked next to trees . I would love to have a hard top then add the the cloth top replacing the front panels.

Oh, the Jeeps!
With CJ-5, once the software top would no longer snap in place, spring, summer, anything but rainy winter-biki top ssolo. During the colder/wet season, Bikini top with soft top doors only. Carried a blue tarp to cover the jeep when it wasn't moving. CJ-8 scrambler, top off with or without doors before rainy season. Top and doors during winter. 1981-1994

Our current fleet. 2020+, (OH my Rubi 21 JLU eco-d "one touch" that was the final straw that made it follow me home, first couple years..if it wasn't raining top was back at least 1/2 way. Last couple years not quite as muh. WIFE'S jlu 2020 Bikini 2.0 and our new to us 21 Eco-JT, freedom tops and doors off occasionally, mostly fully covered.

Got tube doors for the grandkids so plan on more freedom tops and doors off this year. Or one touch back with doors off. Got CCM mirrors early for all so we could go doors off in our state llegally.got some racing harnesses for the kids in rear. Ages 6-11 we're out of boosters but with tube doors/no doors a little sketchy with standard seat belts.

My ultimate goal for the JT is the electric fully retractible top very similar to my "one touch" in use. (Push the Button and voila! Open air at its best.) But much other "stuff" before then. Got the new bumper on order now. Why a nw bumper you ask, cause HF had a sale on the 1200 Apex winches of course. And I couldn't flat tow any of our Jeeps to Moab this last year. Or to camp or home...Just in case, you know what happened.... (I owe, I owe, so at 65+ still off to work I go....) Isn't that the way it always happens? I liked when Jeeps were 5-7k after you dumped your hard earned weekly $7/hour into them. LOL!

Who makes an electric soft top for the JT? I bet it’s pricey, but that would be sweet.

It all depends on the weather and how busy our lives are. The weather might be perfect, but we don’t have the time due to other hobbies, work, or other plans.
Even though I work from home, the JT is a daily driver, so it needs to be covered anytime there’s a chance of rain.

The freedom panels come off more often …and I can do that myself on a whim.
We have a hoist setup in the ceiling of the garage for the top, but that’s not something I’d do myself (it’s tight and you don’t want things to swing). The doors are heavier for me too…so the hubby has to help with that too.

The JT fills the boxes…. A Convertible and a truck wrapped up into one. 😆

Unfortunately, this past spring/summer was colder, much more rain, and we were busier than usual….the roof never came off. The doors were off once for about 4 days, and the freedom panels came off a dozen times. I hope next spring summer is better. I just LOVE riding in a totally naked JT!!

2022 Jeep Gladiator Mojave. First Jeep.
S.E. Michigan here. “Naked” from Memorial Day to Labor Day. May pull off the Freedom Panels a couple/few times before/after.
Self-ordered 2022… first Jeep, but certainly not at all new to 4x4 trucks. Not a Rock Crawler or Overlander, but sand dunes and high(er) speed trails are my thing.

You didn't offer enough poll options! I have the hardtop and rarely remove the Freedom panels before it's warm enough to install the Sunrider. At that point I have that open whenever possible and remove the doors, sometimes just the front, and occasionally drop the windshield. I have a Westin cap and haven't figured out a good way to remove the hardtop with that on.
