So my ordered Gladiator is still a mystery when it will ship. Found one locally with all the options I ordered my current one with except for tow package. Looks like I could bolt on a hitch to the frame and have the 220amp (aren’t they standard) and it comes with the 4 and 7 pin wiring harness. So basically what I am trying to confirm if it’s a big deal if it doesn’t have tow package

220a alt is standard if the truck has the 8.4 radio. 180a otherwise. Tow package and Aux switches come with the 240a. Tow package also adds the 850w cooling fan. These things can all be added later. My truck didn't have the tow package but I added everything it includes later:

1. 240a alt ( 56029803AA )
2. Class IV receiver hitch ( 82215648 )
3. 850w fan ( 68272755AD )

All were easy mods.

Is the tow package a need or a want?

tow package option provides a higher tow rating cert from the mfr then bolting a hitch on. A higher mfr tow rating cert can cover your ass in the case of accident and ambulance chasing lawyers find you were towing over your rating.

Have we seen this verified on door stickers? I can't verify as I have an Auto Mojave and they're all rated the same without or without factory tow.

@ShadowsPapa if you use the factory receiver hitch, aren't you rated same as a "factory" tow package according to your trim and transmission? I know you can't "make a Max Tow" later - but the regular tow package. I've not seen the tow rating broken out on "with or without tow package" - only trim and transmission.

If you get the Class IV receiver that bolts to the frame behind the bumper you are
at maxed tow capacity for your JT.

As said before, if it doesn't have certain other options, you won't get the bigger cooling fan or bigger alternator.

This model is a Mojave by the way with the 8.4 nab system. So fan and class I’ve hitch and reciever seems all i will need. Also read some there that the Mojave has the 850w fan but I can’t see it on the window sticker

It does not.

When Mojave came out awhile back, one review talked about its "Heavy Duty Cooling" and surmised it's because it's "DeSeRt RAtEd". The reason the reviewed truck had the fan was it had the tow package. It is not a Mojave "feature". The only way to get the fan is option the tow package or buy a Sport Max Tow.

The sticker won't say. Your build sheet will. You can also stick a camera down there and photo the center of the fan. It will say the wattage on it.

pages 165 & 166

basically if you are using the sport s as baseline, compared to the sport s max tow there is a 3,150 lb difference.

The reality is these things suck to tow heavy so splitting hairs over minor specs means little.

If you want a solid tow rig go get a real truck

So they break it out on Overland/Sport with or without Tow Package, but not Rubicon or Mojave.... weird.

If you go here and register; https://www.mopar.com/jeep/en-us/sign-in.html
Then input your VIN, you can go to "My Garage" and see what your JT has.

Side note, the upgraded fan does NOT show up on the lists, but I believe if you have the upgraded alternator you also have the fan.
