Hey all, I am looking into buying my first JT. I need help understanding the the towing capacity. I called several dealers and they have all gave me different answers and has had me in doubt. I thought i'd come here for some help.
Ok so the Jeep I am looking into is a 2021 California Edition. GVWR reads at 5800#. The Jeep has a 4" lift 37's and re-geared to 5.13's front and rear and it is an automatic. I know this model doesn't have the max tow package, which i believe can tow up to 7650#, but it does come with the factory tow package and harnesses. The answers I received from the dealers were 4000#, 6000#, and 7650#. Does anyone know if the factory tow package comes with the upgraded cooling, brakes, etc? Or is that only with the max tow option? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the window sticker for this specific Jeep I am looking at.

Heavy duty cooling is apparently mostly just a bigger fan, it will have that with the tow package.
It will have the same great brakes they all do, there is never anything different there.
Tow package also gets a heavy duty alternator.
Someone will chime in who has all the charts but only max tow is 7650#, which this one is not.
I'd say 90% certain you have a 6000# capacity but depending what you tow with that 4" lift you will be towing much less based on comfort. IS there something specific you are looking to tow? A lot of guys have very different experiences on here based entirely on what they are towing and shape vs weight.

I have a 4800# dry camper, but I will probably sell that and go with the overland setup. But I do need it to tow a sxs with camping gear. The max towing would be nice to have in case it is needed. But I couldn't get a consistent answer from the dealers. From what I am seeing the only real difference is the wide axles, 4.10's? Standard tow package comes with heavy duty cooling? Brakes? 240A alternator?

Your 'generic' Gladiator (not the MaxTow or Rubicon with 7,600 and 7,000 lbs towing capacity, respectively) with the trailer package and automatic trans will tow 6,000 lbs.

But, the one you've mentioned with the 37's, even regeared to compensate, will NOT tow 6,000 lbs. Tire geometry, and excess weight of the tires will lower the towing capacity plus, affect your git-up-n-go as well as git-down-n-stop ability.

That model with 3.73 only has a tow capacity of 4000lbs.
