Howdy y'all. Somber day today, we woke up to an email from our RV storage place saying they logged an "incident of vandalism." They left the hood open and tonneau cover unfolded/warped. One of the pictures was of the battery area and it looks like they angle grinded, bolt-cuttered, or plierd off the positive battery terminal and severed one of the connectors in the process. In the background you can also see all the fuses and relays popped off.

Asking here for some help in case anyone can provide reference photos of what this area looks like for them and what I should be counting/hunting for once I see it in person in a few days. This is a 2022 High Altitude, well-optioned. We also tried to look for a part number for the battery terminal portion and couldn't find one. Seems to be #2 in the attached diagram but the shop I called only referenced p/n 68522695AB which is the cable harness.

Any help would be appreciated.

Attached is the fuse panel box layout. Not all will be populated depending on your options.

Edit: added the starter charging diagram as that will show what gets hooked to where on the fuse array on the side of the fuse box. Good chance they may have shorted and popped the fuse array and that will need to be checked for possible replacement.

Depending on where things land, might would want to entertain a full aux battery delete and wiring unless the start/stop is an important system you want to retain.

Just curious but your auto comprehensive insurance policy should pay for this damage to be repaired at a dealer. Not the case?

That's correct, comprehensive covers vandalism and malice with signs of forced entry. Gotta file a claim which still goes in CLUE and counts against you towards earning accident forgiveness with Progressive, for example (our 5 windshield repairs show up there too). Storage insurance should cover the deductible so it would be $0 out of pocket.

But the nearest dealer said they're running 3-5 days for a diagnostic, another 3-5 days to special order the positive battery wiring (comes as one piece), etc. Not to mention coordinating the tow truck there. Rental insurance covers a replacement car for those 2 weeks but I can't tow our RV with that.

Once you get it all back together, maybe get some good hood locks, but they might just try and pry the hood open. Sorry this happened. I hate thieves.

Thanks Hootbro, you're the MVP here posting detailed stock specs. Funny how noone thinks about cataloging this kind of shit until you really need it and then can't find a reference.

Seriously.. Keep going back and forth in thinking it was either an unhoused person or someone that really knew what they were doing. When we reconnected the battery the alarm did not go off which makes me think they did this step first before getting to the truck bed in case it may have set off the alarm.

Thanks man, not even that pissed about the tools they took, just the fact I have to deal with the sloppy chewed up engine compartment. We have the front trail cam so we can't go with the OEM style option so we'll probably do one of the side latch clones. Always go back and forth though, sometimes the more you secure something the more aggressive a thief can get.
