New Dinging Sound Heard Last Night

I'm driving home last night and the Jeep makes a new beeping sound I've never heard before. I've googled 'Mysterious ding' and it seems its fairly elusive. Its definitely different than any other warning I've ever heard, and not the 'Favorite Artist' ding. In addition, the radio definitely lowered itself for a second while this ding went off so its something that has a purpose. I just have no idea what that is.

It did it twice on my 20 minute drive home. Other than heated seats, headlights, and heat on, the only new thing I had on that I normally do not was I had my phone plugged into the USB port which I normally don't but it only had like 8% battery left and I was charging it.

No dash warnings, no blinking lights, no messages when I scroll through my dash settings, nothing. This morning I got in the Jeep, started it up, it ran just fine without a hitch, warning, or light.

Just weird. Never heard that ding before. Its definitely a new sound and I've had this thing since the end of June. Hard to pin down because of no warnings, and the Jeep acts like nothing has happened.

Anyone else encounter this?

I thought that too so I checked. No I wasn't

That, or the bats in your head... Ding Bats...

seriously I'd put money on the phone. It will lower the volume to allow for an alert. IIRC, the HVAC will also lower fan speed when you get an alert. The best way to keep from happening, is to place the phone into silent, on iPhone just flip the switch next to the volume buttons.

I've never used the built-in nav, but could it have been dinging at you to make a turn or exit? I've had that happen in rentals and confuse me, mostly because I didn't even realize it was navigating me somewhere.

No its auto. I'll be sure to keep watch for this weird sound. Hopefully I'll not hear it again, or if I do, figure it out.

Maybe it is the bats in my head.....

If you don't have your phone synched to the Jeep, your phone is probably giving you a notification that it failed to connect to Uconnect. I get that message, but have my notifications set to silent.

I'll have to check that out too. I don't usually physically connect my phone too often and that could very well have been the cause.

I read somewhere (I think it was the JL site) someone attributed it to the seat belt warning or the weight sensor on the seat but I think they saw the seat belt warning briefly flash. I didn't see that

It will also do this with a Bluetooth connection. I connect the phone by USB and use Android Auto so I don't get the fan speed Interruptions and the loud announcements for text messages.

I've got an iPhone and got a ding. I checked texts and nothing.

It baffled me for a while. Then I realized that it was messages coming in through Google Voice.

I have notifications for Voice turned off, but for some reason they were coming through on the stereo. This was while blue tooth connected. If I had been using CarPlay, it would have showed the Google Voice notification and the source would have been obvious. Ha.

Wifey has her Iphone paired with the JT and her Iwatch paired with the Iphone. Today I was close to the JT when she was doing something with her Iwatch. I could hear binges coming from the JT. The JT was shut off and locked.
