i have 340 miles on this 2022 leftover jeep gladiator i bought 2 weeks ago. The only diesel i have owned is the 6 cylinder mb sprinter.

when i start the jeep, it cranks right over but it causes this unexplainable shake of the whole cabin, just during start up and when i shut the engine down, it sometimes causes this shake as well, not sure how to better explain.

also, when i start driving, or slow down, usually b/w 10-25 mph, often when i take the foot off the gas, i hear this noise from the front that is similar to when one applies brakes after rain and rotors are rusty, its not squeeling but "this rubbing noise or darth vador breathing sound" again not the most verbally inclined.

if any of you experienced this, please provide feedback, i am just hoping that its one of these owning a jeep or a diesel jeep charms that i just need to get used. to.

per suggestion:

I had this diesel in my 2017 ram 1500 and it was way quieter. There was a lot more noise dampening going on under the hood. I can't help with the shaking issue, but it doesn't seem normal for me. As for the noise when taking your foot off of the accelerator pedal, I would almost say it sounds like engine braking(that's what I hear), but not quite an ABS noise if that's what you are referring to. To me, I would call it totally normal.

Sounds not normal for me. My car behaves very decent during start up and shut down.

How much 'shake' are you talking about.

When mine is cold, it's pretty clearly a diesel when you start it, I wouldn't call it a 'shake' but a cold engine.

When cold, you get the diesel rattle until it warms up. Some is worse than others.

Without listening to your's. I couldn't tell you what it is.

i am familiar with the rattling when the diesel engine warms up. this only happens when i the engine starts, so think of the starter turning over the engine "forcefully" so that the rotational force sends shake/vibration to the seat/feet where the body contacts the car just at that initial turning over. Same thing happens, to a lesser degree when i shut car off the engine rotation stops almost too suddenly and causes that same shake/vibration. i have had many cars and none of them have done this.

31k miles and my diesel has never done anything to raise an eyebrow. Very smooth and quiet. If it feels off to you I'd take it in. It's been sitting on the dealer lot for quite awhile. Burn off all that old fuel, change your fuel filter, and use some Hot Shots EDT. Do you know if you're getting #1 or #2 diesel where you are?

I hear a noise that I think is what you are describing at low rpm also. To me it sounds like a bearing that is going bad. I first noticed it off-road at low speed when I took my foot off the accelerator with a load on the motor. If I put the jeep in drive, hold my foot on the brake then press on the gas pedal and release it, it will make the noise. I did this at the dealership and was told by a tech that it was the turbo releasing pressure that fed back into the air intake.

I listened to the one video. For whatever reason when I click the link. It only takes me to the start stop one.
For reference. Bose soundsport ear buds.
When I start mine I get a definite engagement and disengagement of the of the starter. That could be your clunk. I don't hear anything that is unusual IMO. I'm definitely not an ASE certified mechanic. When it's really cold yeah it makes some noise like any cold diesel does. My .02 ¢

I have no idea. I do hear the noise. But I also hear the diesel engine. I can almost hear the turbo spooling. Wondering if there is sound deading missing on the truck. Next time I start mine up I'll try and remember to get some video. As well as accel and decel video.
Edit:
Listened to it on my phone speaker. Sound from accel and decel is IMO just the grumble of the engine. Might be a little louder than mine because it's newer. I've got 45k on mine. Memory serves me the grumble of getting on the highway was one of my likes. It's much quieter now.

I am curious. I'll have to find your audio post, but it wouldn't hurt to take it to your dealer to ask them to check it out with you(preferrably going for a ride so you can show them). I doubt they will charge you, but you can ask first.
