No, nothing to purchase except for their time.
That's because - It's a setting in a system menu. You simply go in with the right tools, choose the tire diameter. A selection - you choose the tire diameter from a menu. You aren't flashing the system.

I suppose you COULD go to the trouble of having your VIN updated with the new tire size and then they flash the system and the new size gets put in - but why flash the system for a simple tire size change? (My dealership did not charge me to have passive entry added to my VIN! I already had the settings in there but I wanted it as part of the VIN so my vehicle, if looked at by anyone online, would see it was part of the truck)

I did it, using JSCAN, an OBD II BlueTooth adapter and security bypass cable.
I now have those tools to use on any other changes I wish to make. I have used the same to add auto-dim headlights, passive entry and tire size changes.
Not sure what you think you have to buy from MOPAR, but tire size is simply a menu selection once you are in using the tools I described.
You can use tazer, or
JSCAN and security bypass cable and OBD II adapter
or
AlfaOBD and security bypass cable and OBD II adapter.

Apparently you were sold a bill of goods - as even my accessories guy at the dealership said "we can do it, or we can sell you a tool to do it" - he suggested I buy the stuff and do it myself as then I'd not have to pay them to make future changes to tire sizes or whatever. He was clearly honest - and one reason I keep going back there.

The only caveat is that if you have them make certain changes - like flashing for an update/warranty, it MAY change back to the stock tire sizes........ but that's no big deal if you track the changed you made - simply put back as needed.
JScan here as well and you can use it for other things also and less than $130.

As of now, the techs cannot simply go in and make changes— they tried it. My dealership wasn’t even going to charge me. There is a “software” purchase you now have to make to even initiate the reprogramming.

If you read 4., that is where you have to buy the “contract” before the tech can now have access to the required screens.

This isn't true, my buddy used my JScan equipment to reprogram his 2021 Mojave he just bought, not sure what they told you at the dealership or why they said that

100% correct! The simple scan tool drop down menu went away when the JL was released. The dealership can not press a button and new tire setting is set using their FACTORY scan tool program.

Maybe at the dealership they can't but if you get the JScan license and the security bypass harness and the bluetooth module then it will get it done and that stuff cost around $95 and can do way more than just reprogram your tires. Not sure why you would spend $130 at the dealership.

You stated what NC4stroker said was not true when it 100% is. The technicians at the dealership can no longer just flip a setting in a second and send you on the way. Whether or not somebody thinks that the money spent is worth it is up to the owner.

Jamie was responding to the sentence that you now had to make a software purchase to even initiate the programming.
That is only true if you need to have the dealer do it.
I have the software so i could change tire sizes every month if i wish....and it does so much more!

I just knew that’s all I’m gonna need for now and I didn’t want to have to keep installing and uninstalling a gateway module when going back to my dealer. FWIW, my dealership is super cool with me, and they wouldn’t give me any grief about any programmer, no matter what, but I’m too lazy to want to keep taking the panel off to deal with the gateway module!!??

You dont need to take a panel off and with jscan you do not have to leave anything connected. Make the change and unplug it. Nothing at all to remove when taking to the dealer. Takes minutes, nothing for dealer to see or find as you leave nothing connected.

As @ShadowsPapa said no panel to remove and you don't have to uninstall anything, JScan leaves no trace so you reprogram and unplug and your done. Once you set everything your good to go. It's not a superchips flashpaq or a tuner like that, so no need to worry about anything voiding a warranty.

My dealership, Hendricks in Concord, is cool with me as well and they suggested me getting a JScan or something similar because they said it would be cheaper than them doing it plus I get to keep the equipment.

I installed a scan in my wife’s JL this week so I could adjust the tire size to 35. Quick and easy to setup. Right now I have it zip tied in place until I can confirm the speedometer is correct, then I will remove it so I can use it on my JT when I change tire sizes soon.

I was wondering, to install it you disconnect the OEM plugs from a block and then connect the bypass. does the OEM block just connect the two plugs to each other or does the wiring go somewhere past that? It is just strange that the block is mounted to the dash rather than just using an inline coupler

The block is a physical security item intended to block certain wires from being contacted by the customer accessed plug, hints "security block." Kind of like the press and twist function on a prescription pill bottle top. It is only there to stop the uninformed.
