I am not into the ducks. I got a few but like it was said, if you have ducks you get ducks.
I do my own abuse to my Jeep but it is not someone else's choice. The ducks are harmless and typically given by a 'Jeeper' who understands that your Jeep is important to you. I appreciate that someone likes my truck and am not bothered by a duck.
No, you don't touch someone else's vehicle. I have been involved in custom cars and hot rods my whole life; you don't touch someone else's car.
I wanted to do a 'Duck Run' where you fill a pit with them and run them down, but I just don't care that much.

...Now if someone can tell me how to make a dog stop pissing or crapping on a lawn with a silly sign once they start....I'll wait?
Not with a silly sign, but with black pepper.

i'm just about to turn 38... all these 40 year olds in here sounding like 70+ year olds makes me wonder how much I'm going to change in the next 2 years.

in two+ years of ownership i've gotten 3 ducks. I've given them all to my 3 year old. He loves them. What kind of ducks are people placing on your Jeep that you're worried about damage?

People are literally in here commiserating while simultaneously complaining about people getting off their lawn. That should tell you something.
It's not the damage, it's having to dig the soggy pulp that was the car for their Instagram account out of my driver's window door seal.

Preach it! I cannot stand the ducks for two reasons...#1 it's lost any and all semblance of being a Jeep thing. They're on Subaru's, Toyota's, and Ford Broncos now. I literally saw a row of ducks in a Toyota Prius last week. #2...as a brand family, you only get one thing to separate us from the pack. That one thing has been and will always be the Jeep wave. That's it.

Ducks are dumb. And if you really wanted to get into it. Wasteful and just a marketing scam by China.

So I may sound like an old person complaining about a new age thing, but is anyone else annoyed by people placing these ducks on their vehicle? I am an "old school jeeper" I guess. I bought my first Jeep(88YJ) the day I turned 15(25ish years ago) and have the old school mentality I guess of you don't touch someone's vehicle if you don't know them. And I know the Jeep duck stuff is a newer phenomenon started by a mom in Canada or what ever the back story is. Honestly I don't see how some of these people I see coming down the road can even see due to the reflections stretching all the way across their dash.

Other than getting on here to rant about how I don't believe people should touch your vehicle let alone leave something on it, is there a way other than having no ducks on my dash to let these people know not to leave these on my truck? When they do its just going to the trash or my dog.

And yes I am sure I am going to upset some of you with my opinion on this but it is what it is. Some of you love this new sort of "jeep thing" but I am sure there are others that also cant stand it. I just really want to know how to avoid getting these left on my truck.

Thanks for any helpful advice and for listening to my rant.
I look forward to them. I have several. The people placing them on your vehicle mean no harm. They are only paying tribute to your ride. Hell, I'm 78 and it sure doesn't bother me. Keep em coming.

Every duck placed on my vehicles has been an ad for something, usually some self-promoting dipshit's instagram account. The Algorithm even fed me a video a while ago of a guy making ducks with his social media accounts and placing them on every Jeep he could find.

To me it's no different than sticking a flyer or menu on my car, I still end up scraping the sloppy pulp out of my window seals or wiper blades when it rains while cursing your family for the next four generations and questioning the involvement of certain barnyard animals in your parentage.

Any good idea that makes it to social media "influencers" is immediately ruined.
Influencer "culture" (blech) is the absolute worst across the board.

I hate fliers under the wiper especially but I'm kind of ambivalent about the ducks. If I got one I'm not displaying it on my dash. It'll probably go to the dog to chew on. I have considered getting some with my business contact info on them for events but not for popping on vehicles. I subscribe to the don't touch my shit school of thought as well but I'm not going to get in a twist over a harmless nod.

I do wonder what other vehicle owners would leave instead of ducks? Would it be something useful? Would it be something silly? Would BMW owners leave a half a quart of oil? Would Toyota owners leave 10mm sockets?

Yes, my Glad is my first and only Jeep. I'm a newbie, undeniable, but I do not want or really get the ducks. To each their own, but I find them a bit silly and honestly childish. Again if you want them more power to you. I lean to being more clean, simple with a clean look. Now my Jeep is upgraded, but IMO very tastefully and more adult'ish. Please don't make this out as me taking a dig. To be honest it's not the ducks I like getting. It's the Hot Wheels Gladiator trucks that are put on it. Those I love getting!

I don't do Ducks, but I don't care if others do. To each his own. When I see a Jeep that is really nice or I see they off-road or I think they are deserving of recognition, I leave them this. I buy the wood and engrave them myself:

Those are great.

110% agree. Car Culture teaches you not to touch someone else's vehicle no matter how much you like it. Its like one of the unwritten rules that everyone knows.
I hope you don't ever get stuck behind me on a trail. I would be far too likely to assist you- and possibly end up touching your Jeep- than you would be comfortable with.

I saw this thread and had to laugh, create a login (long time lurker, first time poster) just to share.

I bought a Gladiator this weekend. On the way home I got my first wave. That was cool. It made me and the kiddo giddy to wave back.

No ducks yet. Don’t really want them. Told my wife we’ll just give any we get to one of those people we see driving around with 8 million on the dash. She laughed and thinks it’s cute.

Eh, live and let live. I won’t get pissy if I get “ducked” but I’m not keeping a collection either.

It's about consent. If someone is clearly into ducks and is displaying them, that's showing participation, if they aren't, assume they don't want to participate.

How you got to "I won't help you if you're stuck or stranded" from "don't screw with my truck without permission" makes me think your ex-partners have some interesting stories to share.
