It's about consent. If someone is clearly into ducks and is displaying them, that's showing participation, if they aren't, assume they don't want to participate.

How you got to "I won't help you if you're stuck or stranded" from "don't screw with my truck without permission" makes me think your ex-partners have some interesting stories to share.
My ex-partners all sign NDA's, they'll never talk.

Preach it! I cannot stand the ducks for two reasons...#1 it's lost any and all semblance of being a Jeep thing. They're on Subaru's, Toyota's, and Ford Broncos now. I literally saw a row of ducks in a Toyota Prius last week. #2...as a brand family, you only get one thing to separate us from the pack. That one thing has been and will always be the Jeep wave. That's it.
I agree 100%. It actually also bothers me that the Jeep wave has been made such a publicly recognized thing. People being lazy and putting stickers on the side mirror to prewave to people. I remember driving my YJ and passing CJ's and noticing people waving at me and at first I thought maybe someone had mistaken me for someone else and finally realized that other CJ, YJ, or TJ owners(this was in 1999) would just wave bc I was also a part of their secret club. Now you have people in a Compass trying to wave at Jeeps, also the term "Jeep" to me references any era or SUV that the top and doors can be removed and replaced on. Which that option rubs my friends with Grand Cherokee's and XJ's wrong but it is what it is.

placing a duck on my cowl doesnt bother me...
I'm not into the duck thing and don't think to scour my Jeep every time I get in it. On one trip I stopped to get fuel and then parked to go in to use the facilities and grab a snack. Where I parked I walked up from the rear, jumped in, and drove off. When I turned onto the highway entrance ramp I noticed something slide across my cowl so I stopped and found that someone had ducked me. As I am walking around to get back in my Jeep holding the dumb duck, the offending duckers rolled past me on the ramp...

Moral of the story, don't duck a Jeep that doesn't have a row of ducks, and if you do at least make it obvious so there aren't ducks littering the entrance ramps to highways...

Yes, my Glad is my first and only Jeep. I'm a newbie, undeniable, but I do not want or really get the ducks. To each their own, but I find them a bit silly and honestly childish. Again if you want them more power to you. I lean to being more clean, simple with a clean look. Now my Jeep is upgraded, but IMO very tastefully and more adult'ish. Please don't make this out as me taking a dig. To be honest it's not the ducks I like getting. It's the Hot Wheels Gladiator trucks that are put on it. Those I love getting!
Id take one of those hotwheels lol.

I hope you don't ever get stuck behind me on a trail. I would be far too likely to assist you- and possibly end up touching your Jeep- than you would be comfortable with.
There is a BIG difference in poorly choosing a line and getting stuck and needing help and going into the grocery store in a paved parking lot and coming out to find someone leaned over my Jeep and stuck a card tied to a duck under my windshield wiper...

You're part of the problem! lol
If what you consider "the problem" to be is people being nice to each other i think that says a lot more about you than it does about me.

So I may sound like an old person complaining about a new age thing, but is anyone else annoyed by people placing these ducks on their vehicle? I am an "old school jeeper" I guess. I bought my first Jeep(88YJ) the day I turned 15(25ish years ago) and have the old school mentality I guess of you don't touch someone's vehicle if you don't know them. And I know the Jeep duck stuff is a newer phenomenon started by a mom in Canada or what ever the back story is. Honestly I don't see how some of these people I see coming down the road can even see due to the reflections stretching all the way across their dash.

Other than getting on here to rant about how I don't believe people should touch your vehicle let alone leave something on it, is there a way other than having no ducks on my dash to let these people know not to leave these on my truck? When they do its just going to the trash or my dog.

And yes I am sure I am going to upset some of you with my opinion on this but it is what it is. Some of you love this new sort of "jeep thing" but I am sure there are others that also cant stand it. I just really want to know how to avoid getting these left on my truck.

Thanks for any helpful advice and for listening to my rant.
WOW! You're old at 40? And why do you associate complaining with older people? Sounds like you have us all figured out by our age. Guess you know all. I am going to be 70 in a few months and if someone sticks a rubber duck on my door to make me smile, I appreciate it. I have 2 ducks on my dash and have no problem seeing. And I have never been blinded by a reflection from a rubber duck, nor do I believe others have as you suggested. I don't know of any reflective rubber ducks. If a duck causes a reflection in my windshield, I will just move the duck a little. Much better to have someone see a little reflection than be so damn interested in their cell phone that they do not watch where they are driving. I also wave at other Jeeps and even wave at other Jeeps that are not Wranglers or Gladiators. Do I want to have people put their hands all over my Jeep, of course not. However, sticking a harmless rubber duck on my door or even hood, is fine with me. Additionally, I think you said you would like the "hot wheels" little gladiators left for you. Fine by me, but if out of the package, they possibly could scratch something on a Jeep. I would not want that as a rubber duck will not scratch a jeep that I am aware of. I wish in life that is all I had to be upset about. I let others live like they want as long as it causes no harm to me or others. I haven't seen any Jeeps totaled by aggressive rubber ducks... LOL!!!
Oh, and most people that duck other Jeeps, like me, know only to duck other Jeeps that have at least 1 duck on their dash. I think you will not normally be bothered unless you put a duck on your dash!!!
Now, go relax, find and drink your favorite adult beverage, and try to have a nice day. There is a lot more things to get upset about rather than a Jeep with ducks on their dash!

I have had my Jeep for a year. My daughter-in-law gave me a handful of ducks immediately (I think partly to humor herself because she knew I wouldn’t want them). I tossed them in my center console. I pull the pirate duck out for when she arrives to visit then back in the console.

Since I have no ducks on display, I have only been ducked once. I admit that it made me smile. But, as mentioned in a post above, I don’t like anything glaring on my windshield. I don’t want ducks but appreciate that others have fun with it. I took a duck my DIL gave me and put it on that person’s JTR and put the duck I had received on a Wrangler that had a bunch on the dashboard.

Other people love it so good for them. I don’t but I am happy to make others happy. It ain’t a big deal.

See. It depends. There's a trend going around not exclusive to any brand. But photographers are doing random shoots on cars they see and like in a parking lot and developing photos with a quick preload personal edit. And then leaving said photos in a nice baggy under the wiper. I don't think anyone would mind that. But with ducks there's no implied care or respect. And believe it or not they have been used to track and steal or much worse if your a female Jeep owner. Airtags or other gps devices in ducks so they can find the vehicle or you at a later and more opportune date. Personally I don't mind ducks. I rock doors off all summer and my truck is now always dirty and I've done more cosmetic damage to it than some stranger wanting to leave a cult token will. I would recommend a crossed Duck sticker just to let others know you prefer not to partake. You can look at it as a violation of privacy but the other person is most likely just viewing it as a gift and complement that they couldn't give in person.

What’s work?
Been at Jeeps for long time and think ducks are some new gen thing and silly. I’ve gotten three ducks so far. You know what though, in the this negative upside down world we are all partaking in now I suppose it’s just a fun innocent thing to do to maybe brighten someone’s day, what’s the harm in that. It’s a duck…..not like somebody is setting a couch on it. There’s other things at least for us poors to worry about besides ducks. There are worse things being done to Jeeps anymore daily than ducks. Rows of duck on dashboard isn’t nearly as visually stressful as some dipshits drive way art waxed roaming paved streets looking offroady at boutique coffee shop.
