So I will be getting new wheels and tires. Also have JScan on the way. Should I just turn off the tpms on the dash and go with normal valve stems? What if any is the value of having tpms in my wheels? I check pressure monthly anyway and whenever a major temp change.

What’s your thoughts? I’m thing why spend $100 on sensors when they aren’t needed?

I think you’ve already asked and answered your own question.

I agree. TPMS’s are a giant PITA! Never needed them, but then again when I went to school we had auto shop and learned how to read and do math! Lol. Didn’t need idiot lights either. Unfortunately, it is a Federal law and nobody around me here in Oregon will touch them without the sensors. But, I’m sure there are smaller shops that would.

Checking your tire pressure monthly doesn't do what a TPMS does: let's you know as soon as one of the tires is low. And when that happens (not if) it will certainly occur in between your monthly tire pressure checks.

Saving $ by not installing TPMS in your tires is like not wearing your seat belts to keep them looking good.

but you will know as your tire is getting lower. I have owned a ton of older vehicles without tpms and have never had any issues

Is taking them out of your old wheel/tires an option?

No. Putting that set on the wife’s JL. I gues I could break open her factory wheels. But would be more cost effective to just buy new I guess

Bought aftermarket wheels with TPMS & the dummy light wouldnt go away. Had to disable the light before it drive me nuts. Getting a new setup & not even going to bother with TPMS in it.

Actually you two are missing the point. He is putting the old set on his wifes JL so he would have to purchase new ones.

You have to program/link them to your vehicle. Tire shop or dealer can do it.
