It's a better idea just to get a trickle charger as a memory saver is ment for like a few hours max. A memory saver is used to keep car settings when you disconnect the battery, it isn't ment to keep you battery topped off for weeks.

That thing gives me anxiety. Pushing current the opposite direction as intended long-term through a communications port just seems like a bad idea. It's one thing for a quick battery disconnect or swap, but for extended periods unattended I'd just do it right with a maintainer.

I've been running the OBD2 connection on my Battery Tender for about a year and a half now without issue.

For years Battery Tender has been a generic name for trickle chargers. My bad.

I have a Solar Panel charger that connects to the OBD port. I don't get enough sunlight, where I park at home, to bother trying to use it.

I bought one of the Ring Dash Cams on the introductory special. It gets its power from the OBD port.
