I have a 3.0 eco diesel on 35s with a 2” Mopar lift and during a road trip from Maryland’s to Florida my truck started making an odd noise, like the tire rubbing the fender liner, but only after about 8-10 hours of driving and only when I hit a little whoop on the highway. When I pulled off the highway to look what it was it made the noise during a turn into the gas station. I couldn’t find anything rubbing and have been running this tire wheel combo for 60k miles without issue. After getting to Florida, the noise completely went away for the entire duration. However, it returned on the drive back at about the same duration and again, it has stopped since my return. I took it to the dealer while in florida and they couldn’t find anything either.

Any ideas what this could be?

Your truck is telling you to stay in Florida.

Mud terrain tire ? They will make odd noises and vibrate a little after the tread in the center gets wore down and your running on the cleats more.

Was the sound consistent all the time? Did it change in volume or tone? You know where I'm going with this. Wheel bearing noise can come and go. Break dust can also cause the same rubbing noise.

I had my inner wheel well liner come loose( on a different truck). I would hear the noise only going above 50mph when the frontend would compress. I could not find anything even close to rubbing. I did see a rub mark on the inner fender liner but I could not see how it could possibly be the issue. It just didn’t line up. One day I was driving in a wind storm and the noise happened at 35mph, 45mph just about any random speed but only when I compressed the front end. The rub spot was much worse at this point so I looked closer at the fender liner. The push pins were still in place but three of them were not installed in the fender. The air coming through the grill was enough to push the fender liner back toward the tire. When the front end was compressed it would hit the inner fender liner only if there was enough air pushing it back.

Same thing with mine, except I forgot to reinstall the big pins at the front of the liner after installing new fender lights. Only rubbed when hitting bumps at highway speeds because the 60mph+ wind was enough to blow the front of the fender liner back.

Took a little while to figure out what was going on.
