There’s a couple weird things happening with my jeep. They don’t really fit into any one clforum so I’m posting here. If the mods think it better elsewhere feel free to move it.

Hoping you guys have some input.

I have 3,000 miles on the truck so these are all dealer serviced warranty issues whatever they turn out to be. I’m just looking for input so I can better communicate with the dealer.

1. driving at very slow speeds, like in a parking lot I tap the gas lightly and I hear a clicking noise. It’s loud, and coming from outside the cabin. It only happens sub 5mph. Only happens for that fraction of a second I tap the gas and only if I lightly press the pedal.

2. mopar installed headliner is falling in the back. Dropping down and hitting the soundbar. I can’t get at it to fix it. I’m guessing I need to remove the rear top to fix it. They will likely just slap a ton of Velcro on it? Or are they just going to replace the whole thing?

3. when I fill up on gas, if I stop when it clicks it’s not full on the dash. I’ve seen there’s a tsb on this and it involves completely replacing the tank and sending unit?

1. maybe a pebble stuck in the brake calipers?
2. tell them you want a new headliner
3. When it auto clicks off, continue pumping gas at a slower rate

its not loud like a stone is in brakes. It’s a quick “click” but it’s loud.

the liner is fine, it just won’t stay stuck.
Yeah, a new one might be best.

I do pump slower, and can put in another 3-4$ easily. I don’t want to ruin the evap by overfilling.

I know this is not an answer, but additional detail. I also get a loud metallic "click" on my 2020 overland under the same conditions you describe. I was concerned that is was my universal joint at first, but i am not sure, as there is no noticeable "play" in the driveline when raising the vehicle. It has not gotten any better or worse and I now have 80k miles on it. It seems to be tied to the rear suspension taking and releasing load. It only happens occasionally under very specific conditions. When lightly accelerating, then releasing, then accelerating again or after settling to a complete stop at a traffic light, when the vehicle "settles" or rolls back slightly following a complete stop and then the brake is released completely and you accelerate - you get the "click" when taking off.

1) Check rear lower control arm bolts. I believe they are supposed to be 185 ft/lbs. Anything lower and they have a habit of clicking, should not fall out but will make noise.
2) You have to remove both front panels and loosen the rear but do not have to take all of the bolts out. You can then lift the front of the rear panel and place something like a piece of 2x4" to hold it off of the bar and allow room for your hands. Some GOOD 3M tape should work.
3) Fueling issue, not sure.

that’s good to know. Thank you.
crazy part is I have 3,000 miles. You’d think this wouldn’t happen, but it’s a jeep. I’m betting it misses the dealer lol.

You have the Rubicon with the rear locker, it is pretty common to have a low speed clunk or rattle when feathering the throttle. Either slop in the electronic actuator and/or the spider gears. Nothing you can do about it and is considered "normal".

I went down this rabbit hole to the point of taking it both to the dealership and removing the rear cover and checking the ring and pinion backlash that was middle of spec. It was noticeable with low mileage also but am now at 35K miles and it is way diminished to the point I hardly ever notice it. Throwing a heavier grade gear oil in will do nothing for it either.

My dealer looked at it today…
“It seems pretty complicated to get to, and Velcro won’t fix it unless we use an adhesive to hold it on. Also we looked at the other gladiators on The lot and they all look like that.”

lmfao… “the top is meant to be removed…its a frickin jeep…you’re the jeep dealer! you really don’t see a problem there? That’s how the Velcro is held on in the first place! The fact they all look like this is clearly an issue.”

First time they’ve let me down. But wow, what a sad excuse.
