Naturally. it's so popular that it was discontinued but it's still the best color
Well, I can't argue. I like my Firecracker Red.

So it’s June and my new odyssey was supposed to ship. It’s only been since April. My old OEM is barely holding on. The batteryMinder isn’t doing much but no tender magically saves old dying batteries. Driving the truck seems to help the most as the alternator gives it a deeper charge. So I can charge my battery for $5.79 a gallon, woohoo!!

I’m now at the point where I either need to scrounge a battery from someone, or buy a battery. I’ve called Odyssey everyday. They neither answer the phone nor have they returned my message. I just want to know if the ship date has slipped because if so, there’s really no point in waiting any longer. The truck is throwing all kinds of codes, keyless entry stops working. It’s a mess. These trucks are so hyper sensitive to any voltage issues. I’m changing the oil/fuel filter today. I hope I have enough amps to start the truck after the fuel filter change. The pre start fuel pump priming never seems to do much and the truck has to crank for much longer. No idea if I have the amps to do that. I doubt it.

Heavily sulfated batteries can take several weeks of constant desulfating to reverse the damage. How long are you leaving the maintainer/desulfator on the battery?

Every day, all day when it’s not being driven, for months (the noco, and now the BatteryMinder for the last few weeks). I see the minder cycle through modes including desulfation cycles. It doesn’t show any errors. Either way, the batteries have a finite lifespan. I think 5 years on 2 OEM batteries isn’t actually too bad for this truck from what I understand. I’ve had other makes/models with OEM batteries last years and I’ve had them last 6 months. I’m not counting the Odyssey. It went from working fine with no symptoms to reading 9V overnight. That’s a failed battery. It was in for a year. The second OEM lasted far longer than the first. The first OEM died shortly after the AUX failed. I’ve tested the truck for parasitic loads, so it’s not the truck. Batteries are the most common source of failure. There’s a chance that the sub optimal charging profile of the NOCO or the DCC50S leads to greater sulfation, but I doubt it leads to 1 year battery cell failure. I think the truck rarely gets much back charging from the DCC50S and solar anyway since it’s parked in shade. Mainly I’m confident that even if the charging switch which is tied to the ignition, catastrophically failed, the DDC50S wouldn’t be constantly drawing from the starting battery because the Lithium is almost always full. Also, I’m not experiencing simply weak batteries. I’m experiencing batteries that fail to maintain voltage after charging. Those are bad/old/failing batteries.

I'll be happy if I can get 5 years out of the factory batteries. They are currently 3.5 years old. For the most part, I keep the batteries on the maintainer for two weeks each month.

It's important that you have the charger/maintainer connected properly. You want to avoid blind charging. As you can see on my 2015 Ram EcoDiesel, I have it wired correctly. The charging goes through the IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) and doesn't bypass it. I have done the same for the 2020 Ram EcoDiesel and 2023 Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel.

Yeah, that’s how mine’s connected. Directly to the battery and through the IBS. The MagCode is just a port and its internal wiring is battery direct.

I've had the 'weak battery' display on the BatteryMINDer twice. Both times, I had driven the Jeep and let a few weeks lapse before reconnecting the BatteryMINDer. That's when I realized that parasitic draw is hard on these Jeeps. Now, I pretty much keep the BatteryMINDer connected to the Jeep whenever I'm not driving it.
