Just an FYI to folks. I bought a 94R in December of ‘24. It died quite suddenly a month ago, registering 9V. The truck lives on a NOCO Genius 10 charger, plus I have solar charging from the DCC50S, plus I drive the truck consistently. The Aux is long removed from the truck. Things fail, so that doesn’t really concern me. I can’t pass judgement on the quality of these batteries based on a sample set of 1.

@Odyssey USA ‘s default position is that any battery that has low voltage is not covered under warranty. However, you can call them and they did honor the 3 year warranty since the battery was well maintained (living on a tender/maintainer). The real problem is that they have no batteries in their supply chain until at least mid June. I happened to still have the OEM battery sitting in my garage because I hadn’t gotten around to disposing of it. That’s in the truck now and it’s not in good shape. I’m having all sorts of issues as it’s clearly not long for this world.

The point is, there’s a risk in buying these expensive aftermarket batteries. You may not be able to get a replacement or have to wait a long time if they fail unlike picking one up from Costco, etc. I’m mostly likely going to have to buy a new battery anyway in the meantime and then I’ll have this brand new Odyssey that I have no need for. There’s also a global shortage of AGM batteries, so this risk is worse that it probably was previously.

That is shame, I have run an Odyssey now for about 8 months and this is the third brand I have installed and the only one that will hold a full charge even after sitting for five days. I have not tried anything longer since I do drive my jeep on a regular, schedule but I do not use a maintainer. Have you checked your Nocco I did have one of those go bad a few years ago. It didn't ever show any signs of being bad except shutting down before the battery was at full capacity.

I gave up .I used to run them Religiously . Didn't last a year on my last ram and it also was on a battery tender being I usually used my 25 year old TJ mostly since retired. Buy the best Walmart has and take it back no questions asked IF you have a problem and walmarts are every where .

I second the walmart suggestion, I have had good luck buying the best walmart battery for half the price of the premium brand name battery.

Here in AZ it doesn't matter the brand, the heat kills all lead batteries in 4 years without bias.

I have had good luck buying brand name LI-PO batteries (anti gravity) for my motorcycles and keeping them on a tender. I have one that is 6 years old and lives in a garage that gets 120 degrees.

LI-PO for a jeep though is a pricey proposition.

I have 5 Deka marine batteries that are 6 years old. Used and abused on boats.

Probably go with the same when I replace them. Or some other East Penn made battery.

The old OEM sat for a year and only needed an hour on the Nocco. Considering that the Odyssey lives in the truck and gets the benefit of driving and the alternator, I’m pretty sure that the Nocco is fine. The big issue with them is that they can’t fix a bad battery. They can help sulfation in repair mode, but sitting on the tender really only gives it a surface charge. If the battery is failing, it’s not going to do much. One big issue is that’s these diesels are just really hard on batteries.

Regardless any battery is doing good to last four years, I use a lot of batteries with multiple work and personal vehicles both gas and diesel as well as automated gate imstallations.
I have found the ones that hold up best are NAPA brand both AGM and marine. Vehicles need AGM for CCA but marine are designed for long term draw down thus marine work well.
I have seen Walmart batteries die within months of purchase so not recommended even with warranty, being stranded with a dead battery in the middle of nowhere is no fun.

Had an Odyssey battery fail after 2 years of service, took it back to Autozone and they replaced it, no question or comment. Just replaced it.

Yeah, I think I just got a bad one. I’m also curious about the NOCO now. It doesn’t appear to have issues. I may try my Schumacher for a while. I don’t drive my truck daily either, just a few times a week. I think my usage pattern, plus diesel, plus the current state of just general enshitification (at least the OEM batteries) of everything is a bad combo. So I don’t expect 3+ batteries anyway.

Take a look at Ctek tenders or optimate battery tenders, these have been real solid tenders and might be step up from autoparts store and Chinese discount tenders.
