I missed a generation of recovery tech. Someone wanna walk me through the soft shackle advantage? Also what’s up with all the winch hook replacements?
Super simple.
Soft shackles are light weight, stronger and most importantly... Not metal. I strive for zero metal in my recovery gear both for ease of use and on the off chance a rope does break a D ring doesn't become a projectile. Synthetic is better about not storing as much kenetic energy yet there is still enough to really hurt should it pop and if I can reduce the weight of the rope when it does I don't have any flying bits to duck. Replacing the hook is just like going for the soft shackles.
Cheap hooks are a common failure point and I would not have any weaknesses in my recovery line. I prefer the splice on kind but that's pure preference. I hate open hooks.

Transfers 5 gallons in about 3 min. Beats the hell out of holding the can the whole time.
OR trying to syphon with one of those shake weight thingies.

Thanks, adding this to my arsenal now.

Is it gasoline safe, or you just chancing it because it was in expensive?

Edit, nevermind I see it says gas compatible.... Wow $10? That's cheap! Only bummer is having D-cell batteries on hand, but totally worth the convenience!

I couldn't get the shake weight thing to work. If the HF battery powered one dies on the trail, guess i'll just have to hold the can up there, that's my backup.

I always have D batteries. 2 fans and my sink run on them.

Easy fix would be rechargeable batteries and use the plug in the console to keep them charged

thank you! How about the difference between these three?

Mostly attachment design. Bottom one allows for some expanded rigging options but I have never seen a need for that.

Get whichever one looks the best to you. The one in the middle is the pin on version of what I'm running.

Nice pics! It was a fun ride with a great group. Glad to have met another Gladiator owner on the trail. Spent some time today hunting, towing out a Ford F350 (using my Pull-Pal land anchor) and installing my JCR bed rack..
