Was under the Jeep just now double checking everything from the recent AEV lift install. I was laying under the front axle looking up directly above the pinion and saw a small oil leak directly above. Any idea on what this could be from? 2021 Sport S with the 3.6L gas engine and auto tranny.

^ this was my first thought too. Op, are you in or out of warranty? If you plan to tackle this job and upgrade the plastic oil cooler, you’ll have to take off the intake manifold. Great time to change out the plugs too if they are nearing their life.

It is a valve cover leaking. The oil filter housing will coat the transmission bell housing and run down onto the transmission pan. This is based on there actually being a leak, and not a spill during service.

Thanks for all the clues everyone. I do all my oil changes myself and I'm 99% sure I didn't spill any. However, I'm going to get the whole area cleaned down and keep an eye on it. Based on a bunch of threads I've now read thinks to your tips I am suspecting the oil filter housing. I've been living under a rock for the last few years and not keeping up with Jeep stuff due to family and health matters and I had no idea how common of an issue the oil filter housing was.

Thanks again for the tips and this is why I love Jeep forums so much. Everyone chimes right in to offer suggestions.
