Viair 00088 88P Portable Air Compressor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005ASY23I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DljTDbYXXXCWR

Onboard air is nice as it's mounted and easier to get going. For the occasional wheeler or beach bum get the one I linked above and put it somewhere and just use alligator clips. I've aired up 4 vehicles worth of 37s with it in one go an never hit the duty cycle or temp limit. It's not fast but it will last.
I’m an occasional wheeler and bought this exact unit. Works great, reasonable, and fits in box under rear seat.

I made a similar thread the other day inquiring about the same.
I’ve been looking into an on board air system for a sometime now, but there still isn’t a lot of info about JT mounting locations other than existing JL mount options that are applicable (under seat and hood) and/or gear pod and improvised bed & frame rail locations. Let’s see some of yalls configurations explaining where and why you located the compressor unit, as well as any remote chuck locations, and anything you would change or not recommend. A few pictures of prefab & DIY below. Thanks!!

I dont like how low that sits. Ive gone alot deeper in water than that and the arb isnt fond of being submerged.

I think under the seat would be best , more out of the weather & a bit cooler.

Im thinking the same...the only drawback would be the cabin noise when in use, especially if one was to run air lockers or other air powered accessories. But better to be safe and protected than sorry.

generally speaking, air lockers need a tank you don't want to run them off them compressor only. most arb locker kits come with a small tank for this reason.

but aside from that under the seat is a kick magnet.

Posted elsewhere so sorry if it's a repeat, but it's my super simple de-portabled portable ARB.

It's the boxed version single ARB, de-boxed.

https://www.quadratec.com/products/16104_9002_07.htm

Did this for several reasons.

1. Simple to mount since it's already mounted to a frame.
2. Wiring is self contained, everything built in and ending up with just hot and ground wires.
3. Amp draw low enough to hook to Aux Switches (or I would have gone with a twin).

It shuts off under max pressure, so I can just leave it on and hit the Aux button. Plug in hose and do what I need to do. Tires of course, and it seems to do quite well with them, especially for a few pound top up. Yard equipment, other vehicles, air mattresses, etc.

Give up the grab and go portability, gain not having to open up the hood and hook up every time and probably most important to me, realize I left it on the floor in the garage when I really need it.

Drill out of box (said they were Allen bolts but I had to drill them, think they were stripped on factory install), drill a couple holes in the under seat plastic retainer thingy to bolt it down (why I didn't get the box), clip off the alligator clips and run up the door trim to the aux wires and ground stud in the front using the existing wires... presto, on board air, tucked neatly under the back seat. Easy peasy lemon squeezie.

Is this actually your set up or did you find this on a forum? I would be interested in some more photos or video of it in action…

Nope it's mine. I was struggling mightily over what and where and how to add a compressor, a bit boggled by all the wires and switches and where to mount, and then this brainstorm hit and I says to my self, "Self, you can about handle a couple bolts and 2 wires!"

Happy to get you some other pics if you need them. Can try a video, I'm sure I'm not much of a cell phone cinematographer.
