Holy shit. I mean its half the price of front runners which is good but Jesus. The tank itself was only $79
Yeah, nothing is cheap these days :(
Couple more options if you want black color to match the Alu-Cab

It is annoying these are so expensive when you can get a 20 pound tank at the hardware store for $50. Just shows its about image more than function. Would be nice if there were cheaper 5 and 10 pound tank options.

I didn’t mind the REI price because I got some random REI gift card from work that covered it. But on principle, idk if i can spend $100 for a mount for a bed rack for this thing. I will try and build one myself. Doesn’t seem like the hardest contraption.

When I did my own years ago I thought I recall that the "strap" or "band" holding the bottle was at least $26 from McMaster-Carr. These mounts I showed you though are all aluminum as well which adds to the cost.

You could easily make your own out of steel with just a couple bends... (2) bends for the sides and (1) on the bottom. then drill out (2) holes for the strap to go thru. Add some rubber pads to isolate the tank and drill your mounting holes. Heck add rubber feet to the backside to isolate vibrations... done deal for under $50 probably.

This was a custom mount for my FJC that worked for years. I bought the strap from McMaster-Carr

Here's some starting points for the clamps... I don't remember the correct diameter.

Well I agree that us "overlanders" do like pretty things, but I wouldn't discredit the function of these. The AT Overland mount is all aluminum with rubber cushions for the tank, has various mounting hole configurations and has extremely convenient stainless steel quick release straps (~$45/each). I personally get why the price tag starts north of $100. Even just guessing a 30% margin for the mfg it's going to cost the average person over $50 to make it themselves. Again, not here to argue the subjective nature of what's considered expensive to one person vs the next, I just want to point out that these are quality, turn-key, products that are available :)

Oh I wasnt commenting on the bracket but rather just the propane tank. The bracket prices seem reasonable to me because they are pretty custom And because not everybody (me lol) has the place or equipment to fabricate even though the knowledge is easy to obtain. I love how there are so many small businesses making things like this for vehicles.

But there is a wider range of a market for small 5-10 pound LP tanks especially in the boating world. And to have a 5 lb tank more than twice the cost of a 20lb tank seems like folks are being taken advantage of. But thats just me. at that cost I would just opt for a standard 20lb tank and figure out a different mounting option.

Can't argue that for sure... I paid $70 for my 5lb-er 3 years ago and didn't feel good about it.

One of the simplest ways to add hot water to your shower is to use a water heater. To complete it you have to turn it on and run a hose to your shower. After much thought, I picked up the portable sink. Everything fits in the sink which is quite helpful. The sink and faucet set-up will likely be used far more frequently than the shower.
