What is this on/off switch mounted to the lower left of the steering wheel? This is on a recently purchased new 2024 Gladiator. Can’t find anything in the book.

Bingo….Retractable running boards, availability of this switch was not shared with me, thank you.
If you're out wheeling you'll probably want to turn it off. Nothing worse than opening the door and having the running boards smash into a rock.

I'd be bumping that all the time - right there by knees and next to the column lock lever.
I now and then bump the switch for my RSE steps and it's "supposedly out of the way" near the OBD port - but very easy to bump and then why aren't the steps working?

Tree farmer now. Retired first responder.
IMO: Move it to the area under the dash on the side kick panel in front of the drivers door.

No offense, but that is a 1980's US switch, or a modern Chinese switch, on a modern US $50,000 vehicle. I am just sayin that I would hide it. Hopefully it just attached with double sided foam tape.

Actually I would do it right if it were my JT. Or hire a professional to do it right.

Don't use dime-store switches on hi-tech machines.

Bet that's the switch the steps come with. What the heck are you going to get that's "high-tech" for power steps?
The RSE steps come with a round rocker that snaps into a metal bracket.
A SPST switch isn't rocket science, and I can't see doing better - other than location or embedding the rocker somewhere instead of a surface mount.
We have external door handles, crank windows, knobs you turn for the radio and lights, the door sills come with only paint, other than the X level, your seats have a pull-bar and leather strap to adjust........
It's a JEEP. Just relocate it.

Do you guys have an extra joint in your femurs? My quad would hit the steering wheel long before my knee reached that switch. To me that's the perfect place for it as on long road trips my feet and legs get moved around a lot for comfort and that's one place I'd never hit it? Or are you talking about accidentally hitting it when reaching for the steering wheel adjustment? How often do you adjust the steering wheel? Mines been set in place since day 1.

There is lot of variation in different people and their extremities. I had a RAM 2500 that if I adjust the seat and steering wheel to just a certain position, I could inadvertently turn the key off while driving with my knee if I readjusted its position while driving. I made a NHTSA complaint and asked around the forums but it seems I was the only one to make claim of this issue.

Up when getting in or out, down while driving. I put tilt in my 73, even.
Wait until you get old with joint/knee/back issues and arthritis.....people assume everyone is the same and don't account for things like my wife's handicaps or old age. Glad you don't work with the handicapped.

But you're telling the OP to relocate it because its a bad spot for you? All I said was that would be the perfect spot for me? It wasn't an assault on anyone or their handicaps.

Perhaps that's the beta version of the switch to activate the noise suppression system, lowering the ticking sound coming from the motor.
