Trims - or makes? Grand Cherokee has springs, no air bags. (unless you get the air suspension option which I believe they dropped)
No, it’s still an option

It may be, but it was not available for a while due to the chip shortages, etc. It was listed but could not be ordered. Perhaps it's once again available................ (I know it wasn't because we were looking at Grand Cherokees)
In any case, it was simply an option, and not standard.
I find it interesting that my JT rides as well as our WK2 and before my shock and spring swap, my stock Overland rode better than the WK2, IMO.

I know this is a dirt old thread but I just got back from test driving both the Mojave and Overland.
Back to back, same tire pressure, same exact roads, made sure to hit all the potholes and manhole covers on the road that I could.
Mojave was a harsher ride. A much, much harsher ride. I was able to feel every bump, every imprefection.
When I went to the overland it felt like I was driving on a cloud in comparison.

They had the same packages besides the overland having LED lights and the Mojave having leather seats. Tire pressure was at 40psi on both. Mojave had the AT tires, Overland had the all season.

I would be interested to see if overland tires on the mojave would do any better but realistically the difference was so obvious that I can't see it making that much of a difference.

Mojave was a worse/harsher ride than my diesel wrangler which I thought would have stiffer springs and heavier duty shocks(though the wrangler has less aggressive trires).

Now, aside from the ride the Mojave really feels like it sits up higher and has better sight lines. My wife keeps telling me an extra inch would make a world of difference and now I realize she was talking about a lifted jeep this whole time!
The roll in turns was about the same but the Mojave did feel a little more stiff. The tires being overinflated obviously caused issues there, and the overland did feel a bit more squishy in the turns but they both felt good.

I love the aggressive look of the Mojave, I love driving on the dunes though I've never done so in a truck(and I'm in NC now anyway so getting a trail that I would be able to really run the Mojave on would be tough), I love all of the frame/suspension upgrades, the minor lift, the raised fenders, the interior stitching/color scheme....but the ride is just not enjoyable on the road and I do have to drive this thing on the road a lot.

Tough choice :P

I suspect that the tougher Falken tires on the Mojave are most at fault for the stiffer ride, especially if they are at 40 or more psi. Lowering mine from 45 to 40 made a big improvement in ride, for example.

Agreed. Massive difference though, and both at 40PSI. I usually drive on 37 so I don't see 3 PSI making up the gap. Might go back, take out a different mojave and lower the tires to 35PSI when I'm off the lot to do another test :P

I did forget to mention that there was no road noise from the Falken tires on the mojave, so that was nice.

I have a Mojave and wife has a 2019 JL Sahara, the Mojave is a better ride but mainly due to the longer wheelbase we think, I run at 37psi and 40psi makes the ride worse, it’s only 3 psi I agree. The Overland should ride better than the Mojave, less suspension, less aggressive smaller tires, better road gearing at 3.73, and better mpg also…..Jack

necro thread but I feel I had to make an update.
I think the Mojave's I test drove were duds.
Went to another dealer and test drove a few Sports (not the sport s, basic sport). It was horrible. I test drove another overland and it was nice. I thought they both had the same suspension setup so I was a bit confused about that(though I'll admit I never looked into that and confirmed anything).
Eventually, I drove another Mojave and the ride was really smooth. The suspension ate up everything I threw at it comfortably.
Ended up purchasing one, and drove it home the other day. Did a good couple hundred miles and loved it.

Overland has different springs and weight than a sport - it's going to ride a whole lot different. I've driven several versions, Overland gave us the best daily driver bumming around ride.
Mojave will be "softer" to jump dunes and perform sand running. It's marketed over-seas as a desert runner.
Overland is not the same as the ride in the sport.
I've compared springs and ironically, the Overland front springs are taller than Mojave, so they are obviously softer since it settles down farther. So the spring rate of the Mojave has to be stiffer than Overland to support the extra weight, but that doesn't mean a harsher ride necessarily as rate should match vehicle weight, not be used to lift or lower.
