I have a 2020 Sport S 3.6 6spd MT, powertrain is 100% stock, about 13,000 miles on it (didn't drive much in the last 1.5 years).

The other day the engine error light went on. Stayed on for about a day, across several relatively short drives. Then went out. No error light for the last several days.

Today I took a reading with my OBD Link LX and 'Torque Pro' and it shows "P050B" Powertrain.

I have tried looking up P050B and found some old references, to the 3.6 in the JK that said something like 'cold timing error' and some mentions that it might be a throttle body issue - but I don't want to assume any of that is accurate for our more recent models.

Does anyone know what the P050B is in our-series platform?

Thanks in advance

I chased so many gremlins and stressed the heck out of myself in old vehicles that part of the appeal of getting a new JT was making it someone else's problem when the light turned on.

Looks like this might be a generic code that could be one of many things, amongst the possible causes listed in @TomH 's link is a battery issue. With the myriad of these battery issues we're seeing lately on the forum, it wouldn't at all shock me. I would maybe get it into the service bay at a good dealership sooner rather than later as many have reported being stranded due to a bad main and/or auxiliary battery.

You said you haven't driven it much in the last 1.5 years. Not driving a car is not that good for it. Drive it some and see if the error comes back. If it is battery related it may go away.

Thanks - I have been following other areas of these forums and have not spotted the battery issues. Ugh. I nearly always disable the start-stop.

I drove it only about 1x-2x per week from approximately April 2020 to June 2021. The whole plague/work from home thing. But I have been driving it daily since June 2021 and have taken it on one 900 mile round trip in Sept. '21 and a bunch of 100 mile trips in the last month or so. Got the error code at the beginning of driving to work the other day.

Actually, now that I think of it, I drove it more than 1-2x per week during that interval - though some of the other trips were really short, to check on a nearby relative. I know short trips are generally to be avoided, although I'd vote 2020-21 as best generally avoided....
