March i eas parked on an incline, front down. Pressed start system said parking brake not engaged. Vehicle would not start and system would not shutdown. Towed to dealer, they replaced both batteries. Batteries had just went dead. Today I backed up on an incline and parked. Came back out and vehicle shut down again doing the same thing. Any ideas. It was not a steep incline.

I was not aware that the parking brake needs to be set when on an incline to start the Jeep. Just the brake pedal is all it is looking for. I'm going to look again.

Just need the brake pedal pressed to start the JT. The parking brake has nothing to do with staring. She has other problems.

Since you have a 2021 diesel. Have to dealer check the wiring harness by the exhaust pipe bracket on the passenger side by the firewall for wear. That has been a few cases where the harness worn through and caused problems.

Sorry, but I have to ask……

Are you getting the BRAKE and PARKING BRAKE mixed up?

The Parking Brake on the Gladiators IS NOT electronic. It’s all manual via the handle/lever next to drivers seat. Not connected to the ‘Start’ at all.

Or… do you have a picture of the error that says “Parking Brake Not Engaged”?

I've never seen nor heard of a "Parking brake not engaged" message in our Jeeps. The only dash indication for the parking brake as far as I'm aware is the illuminated brake symbol.

Without a picture showing that specific message on the dash, I have to agree that this is likely a misinterpretation of the message to apply the brake (pedal) in order to start.
