Piece that holds tailgate half open broke

Why would you buy it? It's under warranty, tell the dealer and they'll get you a new one.

Even at $4 I would make the dealer replace it under warranty. That shit should be metal and not plastic. Shame on Jeep for that one.

Or did they make it plastic so that if it is abused the part breaks rather than breaking the hinge holding the tailgate onto the truck, or possibly the strap?

In any event - any idea how this part broke?

I didn't think I would use that and I've used it a lot, you have to get the cable all the way in into the "groove" area to use it right, says so in instructions.....Jack

ESTY has them out of billet aluminum. A bit pricey bit I use it all the time.
