Cheap cigars with the top off.

I have driven 3K mile round trips with no problems. Maybe a set of more mileage friendly tires. I love my HotHeads, well worth it!

I've debated that, or something a bit more fun, m240i, m340i, etc. we'll see
Well now those would be very good options too

The B58 engine cars (all those _40i's) are the sweet spot. Incredible engine but don't quite have to pay the M tax or worse have competition suspensions that beat the crap out of you (ask me how I know lol)

Agreed, we've got 3 B58's in the family between my wife and I and her family, 2 X3m40's and a m240i. The m240i is on MHD Stage 2+ and it rips. Makes the m340i a bit more tempting to get 4 doors out of the deal too. We'll see how the first few months goes of this commute then I'll report back here if I find something I like lol

I've considered picked up an m240i xdrive for the same reason. I want a real M car but for a daily the m240i seems so much more practical. Just waiting for prices to come down a bit since I'm not interested in paying sticker (or above) for a used vehicle.

lol dang I would keep the Jeep in the driveway and get a dedicated commuter like a Civic, Prius, or Lexus ES hybrid
By all means, if you have the money for a comfortable second car just to commute, that's never a bad option (especially if it's a fun car as well).

I think a lot of people never consider the true costs of buying a "cheap commuter" car. Yes, you might be saving on fuel, even a lot on fuel, but you're still spending gas money, insurance, maintenance, yearly registration, general upkeep like tires, etc...

I did the math years ago and found that even if I more than doubled my MPG (15 mpg with my truck, up to 43mpg with a diesel VW), it would have taken me almost 3 years to recoup the "savings" involved after purchasing the car, paying insurance, etc...

True, factored in that cost to own would be depreciation which higher mileage accelerates.
Presumably adding 15k miles per year to a car would devalue that Gladiator more than a 15 year old civic simply because the civic just isn't worth as much to begin with.

But idk I also just really like buying cars so this would be how I justify it haha

I recommend getting a dead pedal.
How could I have forgotten my number one add the Jeep! This is my first automatic and the left foot just kind of was flopping around down there with nowhere to put it that was comfortable. I put in the Quadratec dead pedal and it's the best thing I've ever done to the Jeep.

I did have a commute a little more than that. Most have covered it, slow down some "to smell the roses" er take a slower pace driving to and from work, find the best seat position, enjoy the drive and smile. I'll second getting first aid kit and add a second fire extinguisher then your really not likely to need one. But if you do, one won't be enough.

Yes, a dead pedal, seat jackers, a better sound system and a whole lot of money to keep the tank full. You don't want the daily "grind" to take the fun out of driving your JT! ;)
