Resurrecting this post... Just happened to me this morning in my '22. Has anyone had further issues? Has it "self healed" itself? Trying to figure out if I should ignore it and keep on truckin' or spend some time researching, fixing, dealership-ing.

I would strongly encourage you to get them to investigate it, after my electric pump was replaced I never had the problem again.

It was so bad I didn't trust anyone else driving my Jeep,

I eventually forced the dealer to keep it there overnight for several nights until they found the problem, they had to leave it outside in the cold to troubleshoot.

I definitely wouldn't ignore it. I was lucky several times I didn't end up in a serious accident.

Unfortunately we all that had had this happen can’t point to one thing that causes it. I for one, am on the 4th pump. The first two got smoking hot and would quit but would come back on when it cooled down, no codes. The 3rd one also got smoking hot, quit and never came back on. My wife and I were on the beginning of a 2000 km wedding trip to Vancouver (carrying all the alcohol for the event ) so we couldn’t abandon the truck. I strong armed steered the whole trip. It was an internal electrical malfunction.

It could be a ground issue. If you take your air box off and look down at the pump, you’ll see a thick harness come off it and run up and toward the front, it splits and goes to a ground post and the other heads off to the rad fan. Check the ground post that’s behind the passenger headlight.

Another tech has recently posted on FB that the fix for a recent customer was to fix the fuse tray. It was sent away and repaired and pump worked after that. Check that your fuses are pushed back down and seated firmly in place. I’ve had to do this twice with my 21 JTR. The fuses wiggle loose for some reason.
