New to forum and was hoping to get some opinions on buying my first Gladiator Mojave. MSRP is 65.8k on a new 2023 and wondering if 56k cash OTD is a fair price? Look forward to learning a lot from you guys! Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Yes that is fair. My girlfriend just bought a Mojave with a $61.4K sticker and was OTD (in AZ) for $51K even. The 15% off MSRP is incredible...and the dealer was able to further discount. Good luck and let us know!

Combined with the current 15% incentive, I think most dealers are able to do 27% (total) off MSRP at this point (inclusive of any junk fees, etc.).

That makes your vehicle $48K plus whatever tax, title, etc.

I've seen reports of 30% off MSRP, but I'm not sure if folks are factoring the junk fees (ie: "Paint Protection, $899!") back into the deal to reflect the true discount...

This was the final #s on my recent Rubicon purchase. This particular truck was built 12/2022 and I bought it 12/2023. I think they were a little more motivated to move this particular unit because of how long they had it in their inventory. Sales tax is high in Tennessee as you can see

I would really try to be $45k or better on that Mojave and it is very possible right now. As seen above, 30% or better is what I would shoot for. This is what was accepted back in November on my Freedom. I wouldn't be surprised to see some 35% off stories at this point on '23 models. Every one I looked at was built last Nov-Dec '22. As the pressure mounts to put '24 models on the lots, dealers are going to have an auction decision to make. With struggling (to say the least) JT sales, IMO they could expect an auction ballpark of $40k on that Mojave.

As of this moment there are over 2,500 new '23 Mojaves nationwide on Autotrader. 30-31% off is being advertised, just do a search within reasonable driving distance. You may have to give a little on color or every option and only you can decide if that worth saving thousands.

The only additional fee in my deal was a $699 doc, otherwise State tax, title and registration. When considering that I received 28.8% off MSRP... again this was almost 2 months ago. Wish I would have waited

I was told years ago by a "trusted" dealership insider that a doc fee was money in the pocket for dealership owner. I believe this is probably true for at least that dealer. In NC it cannot be negotiated for fear of a lawsuit. With that said they can negotiate the price so work on that and expect the $699-$999 doc, ask upfront. Any other fees not going to State/County are definitely junk!

Doc fee is always just gravy for the dealer, but at least in Texas, that line item is capped at $150. I suppose either way, it ought to be factored in as part of the overall discount off MSRP (to compare out-the-door pricing nationally between dealers for these leftover '23s).

Can I ask how you guys are dealing with the crazy interest rates right now 9,10,11 %? IMO besides the 24 coming out that’s the reason for the discounts being what they are. Are you just planning on refinancing when they drop and dealing with it for now? Or are you guys paying for them in full?

I paid 56k for mine in late 21 but there weren't many deals back then. I did get 0% financing for 36 months so that saved me a bundle.
I would much rather pay that 56k at 0% then 45k at 10%…..your payments are still gonna be much better than the deals now….so feel great about it

No way. You can do better than that. I bought a 23 Mojave in September when Jeep was offering 10% off. I found a dealer that was matching that so I got 20% off sticker total. Put down 4k and got 2k for a trade in. 63k Mojave for 44k and I asked them to deliver it

Those are really high rates. Most places are under 7% now.

I didn't get such a big discount a year ago, but I did find the JT equipped just as I wanted it.

I fortunately was able to pay cash. I had a 2020 JTR trade in which was 38K. I owned it so no payoff. I'm not sure I would have been looking to buy with the current interest rates. That's a lot of money that you will never get back in equity.

Is your credit score marginal?

I can easily shop around high 5% to under 7% rates for new.
