Im in Orlando as well but with Geico. Rates havent bumped for me for about 3 years. I typically shop progressive against them when they do eventually bump. Progressive looks good when their trying to write your policy but after 6-8 mo they always increase rates it seems. FL is the worst TBH. Millions upon millions of international tourists, US-based tourists, snowbirds, rain, tornados, hurricanes, sinkholes... Ill be happy when I leave this smoldering dumpster fire

Loyalty is a concept of the past.

Even USAA has become horrible to deal with over the last decade. Zero claims or moving violations and the rates keep going up. Its not the market and shit either........they've had multiple fines from the FTC and SEC over the last few years.......so they just pass those cost off to their members; they wont say it, but do the math and research..... you'll find the truth.

I have been slowly but surely moving my banking over to either Penfed, Navyfed or AMEX.

Funny how experiences differ from person to person and state to state.

State Farm can go suck rocks. I pulled everything I have with them.
Indeed. But they have put on 2 new roofs for me in the last couple of years. Zero problems, full coverage. Treated us fairly. As an ace in the hole, I have a buddy who is high up in the home office organization. Haven't needed to play that card yet. So far so good. We'll see how the car side of things goes.... Good luck with Liberty. You will need it! Prices are good, service is a nightmare. For me at least....

Outside of my 24 years in the military, I have lived in Florida my whole life and for the most part, kept my Florida plates and drivers license while stationed elsewhere.

I have USAA. It went up last renewal period and I wasn't happy. I found a independent agent (friend of a friend) and they couldn't find any company to match USAA. So I am still with USAA.

USAA homeowners insurance is sublated through Tower Hill.
USAA boat insurance is sublated through Progressive.
USAA Travel Trailer insurance is sublated through Progressive.

I'm not in Orlando, so where I live (Lake County) may play a roll in cost as others have mentioned. The way this area is growing, I expect to see the cost of living adjustment coming even though my lifestyle isn't changing. But...where do we go to escape this madness?

Yeah USAA upped my homeowners insurance a $100 this year.

I called them a few weeks back to see about having them pay to have a few dead trees cut down (being proactive). They told me to pound sand. I said that's fuckin dumb w/o saying it.

So instead of paying $800 for tree removal I asked them if the preferred paying $8000 to replace my fence if the one tree falls......I was told they deal with it at that time......what a bunch of donkeys. And if they other 2 trees fall its a new roof at a minimum..........so $30-40k ......ok, makes sense

Our zip code and surrounding areas have seen a massive influx of residents (North Texas - Collin County) and the associated insurance claims have increased as have the insurance company expenses. I thought we were all handled based on our individual records but boy was I wrong as it's an aggregate across the geographic area and the likelihood you'll file a clam.

We ended up going with Liberty Mutual as they were 60% of what State Farm was proposing. We pay in full every six months and Liberty Mutual locks the rate in for 12 months. I'm not happy with paying more but paying less than I expected to for better coverage is a happy middle ground.
Same as far as influx and accidents at every corner for the last decade. Why paying more when Liberty was 60% of the fee? Will try Liberty today, thanks for the tip.

The worse thing is they will cancel you if you do file a claim. 20 years in business and I pay out of pocket every damn claim that comes in not happy but fear the cancelation or increase. I leave the insurance as a backup for anything outside the norm.

My experience with insurance is it is the adjuster not the company that sways payment on claims. Be super nice and honest with your adjuster and get on their good side and you can usually come out ok. That advice works pretty much anywhere. If for what ever reason that does not work and the adjuster seems to be an ass move up in the chain.

Yes sir, I agree. We were here before when this all started and it was fantastic. Coming from NY, the cleanliness was incredible. Watched it all happen over the last 12 years.

Totally defeats the purpose of having and paying for HO insurance.

I've had either renters(7 years) or HO insurance(14 years) with USAA for over 20 years and zero claims.

Here is their email response to me just now.

"Thanks for reaching out—I understand your concern about your rate increase.

Your premium increased due to a general change in our rates. Our rates are based on the cost of doing business in the state and are adjusted to reflect regulatory requirements. This keeps our pricing fair and accurate for all our customers. When our costs increase, we need to adjust our rates to account for those increased costs in the state. When our costs decrease, we are able to pass those savings on to our customers in the form of lower premium. Please keep in mind that other carriers will experience the same trend.

Please know that you can always call us to see if there are ways to lower your premium. Policy reviews are not available through email but our specialists are available to assist you by phone. Give us a call at 1-800-876-5581. We're here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

Oh This felt personal... Wife and I submitted a vandalism claim 4 days after purchasing our home in Apopka. The former owner (we think) broke in and threw used motor oil on every wall and floor and cut all electrical running out of the breaker box. Insurance said we were trying to commit fraud and cancelled us retroactively to the date of purchase. Did I mention I hate Florida?

Almost as scammy as Blackrock, Vanguard and the NY fed buying all the real estate at the inflated pricing while everything thinks its due to snowbirds. lol
