I wonder though if the problem was really that no-one wanted to spend the amount of money that Jeep wanted for the V8. I suspect if they were more affordable and weren't bundled with the Summit/upper level trims way more people would have opted for them.

I was looking at these for a while and to me I would've wanted the V8 , the V6 was just adequate. I wasn't myself willing to jump up into the upper trim to get the V8.

Unfortunately it appears this is the way the car market is going due to CAFE. Only the rich will soon be able to afford large displacement vehicles.
It's possible, can't count that aspect out, but in the marketing I've partipated in in the last couple of years, when asked "would you prefer" or similarly, there was no mention of the cost.
However, when they got into the smaller things like asking about convenience things, electronics and so on - they asked "would you if it was $x" and kept going up the line until I finally said no to a price.
Never saw that on the big stuff, but then, once you got into a showroom, that's where the checkbook meets the road, to butcher a phrase.
(we were asked about Alexa, cell services and hotspots, radio sizes and features and so on and those often had a price threshold mixed in, they never did on the bigger stuff......but hey, I don't work for Stellantis - if I did, I'd be fired for yelling at some people. )

Don't have time for that because I'm too busy off-roading my Jeep. Can you post the link?

You must not have test drove the Jeep long enough. Mine Road just fine on the test drive and continues to please me as I have modified the suspension.
Interestingly, my wife actually likes my JT for long road trips.
I found the comfort of the JT ride and seats to be superior to the WK2 - at least the 2018 and 2021 model years. The seats were hard and I thought the ride was harsh on certain roads (not all) compared to the JT.
If I had it to do over, I'd ditch the Eibach rear shocks and put the stock back on it, Eibach shocks ride harsh. Esp on that light ass-end.

Now I am facing another thing I never expected..... my wife has had a long string of Grand Cherokees. They've never let us down. But they don't come in purple. She always wanted a purple Jeep but had resisted the Wrangler because of some pre-concieved notions about them. Two JTs have shown her - even the non-Grand Cherokees are fine. So she now has a reign JLU.
She had a "check engine light" come on and I needed a vehicle for an appointment but told her she could drive my JT - I'd move the seat for her as she's not capable of that with her handicap, and the rest would be familiar (and she's driven my JTs thousands of miles over the years), and I'd drive my Eagle.
The check engine light was an evap thing - dummy me got the fuel cap cord caught in the threads when putting it back on last time and it detected a leak. I resolved that.
When she got back with my Gladiator, she asked how her Jeep was, if I had fixed it. Yeah, simple man-made problem, resolved.
Her response was "Good, I like driving mine better".
Hmmm, that was interesting as they are pretty much the same.... but she has a Rubicon and mine is longer being a truck, with the harsh rear shocks.
I suspect it's all of the comments and looks she gets when driving her purple Jeep.
Maybe I need to keep an eye on her..........

I'll check out your profile. I would disagree whole heartedly with your unresearched claim that JT's are bought as daily drivers and not for the adventure value. But myself and most of my jeep owner friends Hunt, fish and recreate in the Rocky Mountains, avoiding rubber ducks and preferring BOH's, and wilderness photos, which is what the JT's were designed for, and even marketed for. I'm glad you are content with your JT whatever your use, that is genuinly nice to hear, and I hope you get out to the wilderness. I hope to see you on some off pavement trails and locations. Cheers!
It's all good homie....... we're all just trying to live our best lives. I daily mine and abuse the shit out of it every opportunity I get......either on the road, off road or doing burn out because I'm a fuck savage.

If my post rubbed you the wrong way, sorry. I'm just a straight shooter that can be abrasive to some. Either it's Friday......May the weekend be chill and beers be colder.
