It's possible, can't count that aspect out, but in the marketing I've partipated in in the last couple of years, when asked "would you prefer" or similarly, there was no mention of the cost.I wonder though if the problem was really that no-one wanted to spend the amount of money that Jeep wanted for the V8. I suspect if they were more affordable and weren't bundled with the Summit/upper level trims way more people would have opted for them.
I was looking at these for a while and to me I would've wanted the V8 , the V6 was just adequate. I wasn't myself willing to jump up into the upper trim to get the V8.
Unfortunately it appears this is the way the car market is going due to CAFE. Only the rich will soon be able to afford large displacement vehicles.
However, when they got into the smaller things like asking about convenience things, electronics and so on - they asked "would you if it was $x" and kept going up the line until I finally said no to a price.
Never saw that on the big stuff, but then, once you got into a showroom, that's where the checkbook meets the road, to butcher a phrase.
(we were asked about Alexa, cell services and hotspots, radio sizes and features and so on and those often had a price threshold mixed in, they never did on the bigger stuff......but hey, I don't work for Stellantis - if I did, I'd be fired for yelling at some people. )
