Once you learn how to use a sous vide, it is a pretty awesome way to make wonderful food. Think how much more wonderful our jeeps could be!!!! Instead of getting warm in your jeep in say 5 minutes, instead you would be comfortable in about an hour. And you will never be made uncomfortable by hot air. I mean who wants hot air blowing in your car?

No there isn’t a “true” manual mode- you can adjust “one” parameter but all the rest auto adjusts... calling it true manual is bs and what causes lots of confusion between owners when it’s not truly a manual mode.

Yeah, there is.
Set the fan speed - it stays there.
Set where the air comes out, it stays there.
Set it on heat, it won't change to AC.
Set it on defrost, it stays on defrost.
Set the temp to 70, and it gets the cabin tempt to 70.
Now it will strive to get to 70 quickly, then it will temper the air to keep it there, meaning it won't blow 90 degree air once it hits 70 - unlike my 73 Javelin which will melt the dash plastic bits until I move the lever back down.
Otherwise, it's manual.

The air doesn't switch where it comes out of.
The system doesn't switch between AC and heat by itself.
The system doesn't change from dash vents to floor vents by itself.
The fan doesn't change speed by itself.
So it's manual.

If you mean it's not manual because it strives to get to the temp YOU have set and keep it there - then you aren't aware of how many modern automotive HVAC systems work. It's by design, not broken. If that's ALL YOU MEAN, then it's not a flaw, it's how they are, and it's simply that you do not like it!
THAT IS MANUAL, nothing confusing about it other than your perception. It's how it's been with Jeep and many other vehicles for years, even decades. Not all, no, just like not all use the same type door lock systems and other bits.

I have read the entire and even posted early when it was first started. My Rubi has the same “not the best design” hvac set up. However, like every other vehicle I’ve owned, you figure out the peculiar traits and adjust or realize yours is broken and take it in for service.The OP starts a thread with an ominous title and then bails. Poor form. I also don’t like that the steering wheel and seat heat turns on any time I start it and the temp is 39 degrees or lower. That feature was designed in and I have to press the buttons four times to turn it off. I’m not going to issue a buyer beware, even if mine was broken and I couldn’t turn off the steering wheel and seat heater. I would take it in for service.

It is one thing to ask a question on the forum about a perceived problem or start a thread with a title specifying the problem, but to go all chicken little and start a thread saying “buyer beware!” Like your Gladiator will blow up if you attempt a greater than 10% grade is just irresponsible. That is my point.

Ya know what's really funny about all of this - I've used manual twice - both times just to see what all the fuss was about! LOL - and I found it worked fine, as designed, and it was simple and it worked great.
Otherwise, from the night I picked it up, I have had it set on 68 degrees and auto.
I have maybe 6-10 times switched it to defrost (we have frequent ice events here) and back to auto but other than that, every time I am in that truck, it's in auto mode. I from time to time turn the heated seat down, maybe off, and once in a while turn the heated wheel off (it has hit the 40s now and then) but seriously, it manages cabin temp so well, I get in, drive, and simply most of the time don't even touch the HVAC controls, short trips, even driving for a couple of hours, I don't even mess with it. It simply works.
I find the heated wheel sometimes stays on too long and gets too hot before shutting back, sometimes it shuts down after a short time and before it gets too hot - they could work on that a bit. Maybe a better stat........... but for the HVAC, I view it as pretty danged good.
I don't even mess with manual. Why should I??? Auto works so well!!

THIS IS THE SINGLE AND ONLY PASSAGE IN THE HAND BOOK ABOUT THE MANUAL SETTING WITH THE AUTOMATIC HVAC SYSTEM. THERE IS NO PLACE IN THE HANDBOOK WHERE IT GOES INTO DETAIL ABOUT THE SYSTEM LOGIC OF THE HVAC SYSTEM.

I actually have not yet put it into Auto mode. I drive mostly to work and home from work, usually twice each direction. Sometimes I drive to our lake house, and the DW is with me and the Wire Fox Terrier... then she wants what she wants and I want what I want. The winter has been mild in the 3+ weeks of ownership, in that it has been winter, and relatively not horrible. The system turns on my heated seats when I start it in the morning and it is 28.... the wheel is hot and the seats 3 levels of hot when I get in it. The rear window defrost is on, in my hard top Gladiator, and not the front window. I still don’t get the logic of that. I park in the driveway as the 3 car garage is full of the DW’s Volvo XC40, the SLK and the MINI S. I haven’t driven the MINI since mid December and the SLK has only been out one time since we got the Jeep. When I get home and I know it is going to be cold in the morning I turn the front defrost on and the heat to high. I remote start it and it is lovely when I get in about half way to work, I turn the heat down. By the time I get to work I am readjusting everything on what the lunch time temps and weather is predicted to be. I go home many of the days, and let the WFT out, eat lunch and then return to work. Unfortunately, I have yet to need four wheel drive, and have recently been practicing shifting to 4H... which was hard as heck the first several tries... now that seems like a fault. I tried today to shift to 4L... I am not yet skilled enough to accomplish that.... Tomorrow it is supposed to be 15F and it is snowing right now... so maybe just maybe I will need 4H... glad I have gotten at least that semi broken in.

BTW you can’t win the internet, and when you know you have been proven to not be correct it is really hard to admit it.
