Question about item inside cab

I recently purchased a Jeep Gladiator and there is this item in the pic inside the cab near the bottom of the steering wheel, any idea on what it may be?

from my guess, this is a preowned jeep. this looks like a makeshift bluetooth call answer button.

If it is, why would the previous owner need it when there is bluetooth
