I have to admit, in a world of mostly plastic things, that Bulletpoint Mounting stuff is really well made.
Yes, its super nice! Was one of my first purchases, and it is also one of my favorites. Gotta get another arm going for my radio corded handheld.

A high end detector is shielded from the "detector detectors". Thankfully

I run a similar setup to OP. I didnt hardwire, I have a mute button at the 12v outlet, which indexes off my B&M transfer case lever nicely. So im torn on hardwiring, lmao
Is Valentine considered to be high end. I don't usually drive over the speed limit but like someone said it is nice to know where law enforcement is located. I might just need one of those.

This forum goes really above and beyond with testing units.

I run Uniden R7's in both my vehicles, which are "mostly stealth" , and I mostly stay out of VA, lmfao

I flipped my mirror and mounted the detector up top. It’s not in the way…

I just shoved mine above the mirror, but it's out of the way too. The cables though.........

I'm running a V1 Gen 2. It has more than paid for its self several times over.

You need a mirror tap. The OG is from Blendmount. They make over-engineered mounts for many vehicles, too. https://blendmount.com/mirrortap

However, I found a similar one cheaper on AZN and have several: https://a.co/d/0eTGMF5l

I used this mount on several vehicles: https://a.co/d/0bcVjZHY

Put a little loctite on the screws on the mount that connect to the radar detector holder- they back out easily from vibration.

Interesting. I didn't know I had power up there. The mirror looks so basic. I have a dashcam that needs hard wiring too so this should be helpful. Thanks!

EDIT: dang, it says it's not compatible with the style mirror I have. Still, I can probably figure something out at least for the dashcam.

This forum always delivers. Thanks OP for an alternative solution, and everyone with the useful snippets.

My jeep is the slowest thing I've ever driven but I still like to have the radar setup for awareness when passing through those small town speed traps when traveling outside VA.

FWIW our Bronco Sport had the same thing claimed.

Fortunately someone figured out that power can be pulled from the plug that goes to the auto dimming mirror. You could also potentially pull power from a map light, whether that power is switched with the ignition or not is the big question. In my e46 BMW when I unlock the car remotely it triggers power to the V1. On the Bronco it happens at ignition. Same goes with Blendmount- I found the one I linked above worked on the e46 when Blendmount said theirs wouldn't.

The other thing- if Jeep has a harness a dash cam could connect to, you may be able to pull power from that for the radar detector as well as the cam. All depends on power usage between the two.

if you're like me and don't have a dimming mirror which means no power at the mirror then just run a wire from the back of the cigarette plug around the bottom of the dash and up the a pillar to the detector. It's switched power so when the jeep is off the RD will be off too.

I used to have my Valentine hardwired near the mirror too. But I found it distracting and a pain to mute. Went 6 years with it mounted on the lower left corner of the windshield, which is really handy. But happy with the dash mount for now. Easy to mute, and not in the way when driving. (And even if it is on the dash, it's still about a foot or two higher than the mount in my last few cars . . .)

FYI, just had an email from Bulletpoint introducing a few options.

Would it be feasible to hardwire it to one of the aux switch wires in the passenger floor board? Would that work?
