Perfectly fits and very solid connection. $10, you can find coupons and they have a RAM mount sale once a year if even this is too rich for you. They charge for shipping but they also have the center dash RAM mount track which I also have and enjoy. Free shipping if you order over $25.

I'm not affiliated in any way, just want to put this info out there.

Another forum post about the same thing, but the option I found is one piece instead of multiple pieces and one step. Similar to this post however, the thread pitch is exactly the same as the stock bolt. Keep in mind you are screwing into plastic, not metal, so don't over torque.

Thanks! I was just looking for a GMRS solution. Does any know the right RAM mount for your basic Midland handheld?

Did you have to cut down the length of the threads on that ball mount to keep it from going deeper than the original screw?

Nope, just screwed it in as is.

One last question before I order - if I ever remove this, can the original screw be put back in with no damage or marring shown from the ram mount ball?

the hex portion looks like it might damage the area -maybe I am over thinking it!

The stock screw covers that entire thing up.

Just be careful what you mount there. The factory airbag deploys around the grab bar (deploys above, but the bag goes up toward the dash and down toward the passenger's legs) and will launch anything in the way into the passenger. It could also launch something, like a CB mic, at the driver.

I posted some more details in another thread, but too lazy to go find it.

Very good point. I have my setup pointing towards the driver and not in front of that area. Do you know if the airbag goes only over the bar or truly around it? I tried finding some crash test videos but no luck.

AH! This is a thread i need!
Where the Ram Ball is screwed in, what is that location refernced as in the Mopar Parts book? When i put in the CMM ball i stripped the threads on the mounting side, not the ball side.
I'm looking for a blown up pic of how to change out whatever is threaded in there. At least i hope to fix it without replacing the whole dash. Figuratively speaking.
