I got rear ended on Labor Day weekend after only having my Gladiator for 45 days or so. Was fortunate that parts were readily available and the supply chain didn’t screw up my repair.
was unfortunate that the instigator of the 3 car pile up was uninsured…….

Some asshole hit mine in a parking lot. Since I don’t know who did it, it’s considered a collision and would go against my insurance. I don’t ended up fixing it mainly myself and the rest out of pocket.

UPDATED; ...So, I feel bad because I didn't even address your post, So, here is my correction; I'm super glad everyone is ok, it could have been alot worse, and it looks like your JT will be ok after some minor repairs. I hope your Christmas still went well and that no plans had to be drastically changed or cancelled. As for DOUGSTDIG; I've had the same receiver step since I've had my truck. I call it my Subaru Harpoon, but its an extra layer of insurance for the rear end, and they are solid. And as an extra measure for tailgaters, I used stainless steel bolts to secure a bright yellow pipe wrench to my bumper. That has seriously ended most idiots from tailgating me more than anything else. Honestly, I don't drive in town much, as I feel city driving is harder on my JT than an extreme jeep trail, that, and I'm always worried I'll pick up door dings or get plowed into,,,,,, or worse yet, I might get DUCKED, ha ha.

I like the idea of that step, but would sure hate to bash my shin into it.
Hasn’t happened to me with this. A ball hitch…yes. I don’t know if it’s the angle or rounded edges, but it hasn’t been an issue. Now a wet shoe slipping off and raking it against a shin…yep, which is the reason for the skateboard tape. Hasn’t happened since.

We’re you in the vehicle? If not, it’s NOT a collision.

No I was not in the vehicle. In NC, that’s how insurance companies handle it. It varies by state. I was pissed about it.
So you guys don't have comprehensive insurance?

Should I be looking at the frame to check if it’s bent? Isn’t that where the hitch directs the force
I got rear-ended in my JKUR a few years ago by a Renegade going 25mph or so and it bent my frame. I ended up getting the frame swapped for a new mopar frame.

Get it checked. Even then, there may be hidden frame damage.

That’s not a comprehensive claim. I have zero deductible comp. That covers stuff like hail damage, windshields, theft, deer strikes, etc. In NC, it is considered an uninsured motorist claim which goes against your collision policy if you don’t know who hit it. No clue who hit mine.

Ugh. I wonder if you could claim it was vandalism.
