There were multiple thread links posted showing fires from gladiators that were sitting all the way to one burning down while being driven...

So while I dont technically "know" them, its been on my radar for years.
Yep since 2023 for sure! I have kept an eye on the connection plug ever since!

I called my dealer and they said there should be a fix by the end of August and it would probably ship in October. They also said high volume dealers and used inventory would be fixed first. They also said they would probably only get a limited number of fixes each month. I figure I will be lucky to have mine fixed by this time next year:)

For those that won't read the threads, a little context:

First linked thread, the vehicle caught fire during the drive home immediately after both batteries were replaced at the dealer. While possible it may be coincidence and actually be from this recall issue, Occam's razor would point toward the most likely cause being the service department left something loose during the battery install. I'd call this a maybe.

Second linked thread is possibly related to the recall, though it's also possible the cause could have been a transmission fluid leak as noted in the comment by the owner. I'd also call this a maybe.

Third and fourth linked threads both occurred before the start of the affected vehicle production run. It'd be conjecture to say whether or not the cause was the same as the topic of this recall, but one can state conclusively that the recall itself does not apply (at this time).

Fifth linked thread is very possibly associated to this recall. The fire does appear to have been most intense right about where the steering pump was. I'd call this high confidence.

Last linked thread, the owner stated the fire started in the bed area. Pretty safe to say it's not related to this recall.

In sum we have one high probability, two maybes, two not covered, and one definitely not associated to this recall. Balance this against almost three hundred thousand Gladiators made during the affected timeframe.

I called my dealer today to schedule an appointment (like the web site said, although I already knew the answer...)
Jeep receptionist: Hello
Me: Can I have service, please
(call transferred)
Service: How can I help you ?
Me: I may be the first to call about the recent recall...
(silence)
Me: I'm f***king with ya, buddy....
Service: (giggles) Oh, ok....
Me: I bet you're getting slammed right now.
Service: Yes we are. Bad part is, Jeep is giving us NO info to pass on, only "Parts unavailable" with no time frame. Not very helpful. (He runs my VIN, verifies I'm on the list)
Me: I bet everyone is going crazy, even though until the recall they were happy clams.
Service: (laughs) Yeah they are. Some people want us to deliver a loaner car to their house and tow their Jeep away in case it catches fire. This recall is going to take months, not weeks.
Me: Shit, it'll be months before Jeep gives you a parts time frame !
Service: Probably !!
Me: So what do I do ? Wait ?
Service: Yes sir. Jeep will either email you or send to a letter to bring it in. No need to call for weekly updates, there is nothing we can do. Jeep will be doing this in stages.
Me: I understand. I'm just gonna drive it like I always have.
Service: That's what I'm doing with my Wrangler.
Me: I guess I'll talk to you....whenever.
Service: Yes sir. Sorry.

No need to yell at this guy, he has nothing to do with the issue. He is probably the lowest guy on the totem pole.
same conversation w/my stealer

I did not know this was available, I see they also offer a belt driven pump kit for use with the factory box.
I spoke to them about this and he said it works fine with the stock gear. I was going to do that but decided if I was going to do it, I might as well get the better steering gear as well. You DO NOT need to do the Cylinder Assist unless you are running BIG tires, like 40s. The belt driven pump only is designed to get you started with what you need to upgrade in the future and get rid of electric one.. Mine arrived yesterday!
