Im wondering if anyone has seen any details on the rear window, its clear that its going to have a little slider similar to fords and obviously the whole rear section with the window included comes off but what about just removing the rear window? Im hoping to put a cap with a fold down front window and be able to remove the rear window only, thoughts?

I'm betting that the rear glass on hardtop is not designed to be removed. But I could be wrong. Of course, you CAN remove it. There has to be a way to facilitate repairs. But I doubt that it's designed to be a removable piece.

While I wasn't expecting or hoping for a rear window, that is my only disappointment in the reveal... that tiny pass through. I can see from the inside shots that really, it couldn't be much taller, so I get it. It would have been nice to see a 30% width window though. My dog will scratch the living crap out of everything trying to climb into the bed.

Damn, thanks for the replies guys. Thats my only disappointment as well since my plan was to keep my dogs in the bed of the truck with a cap but still be able to get some A/C back there in the summer time by having it pass completely through, would also have been nice for camping when sleeping in the bed of the truck, so far the only truck that you can do that with is a tundra crew max but the jeep being available in stick makes me want the jeep.

I will be getting a Gladiator at launch, I'm 98% certain... so I reluctantly say, I think one of the first years they start making tweaks, they'll probably do something to make that window more versatile. I don't think that'll help until 2022 though.

I tend to agree with you that something will be done with that window. My plan has always been to do the dual top when I order but your statement got me thinking. Someone could make an aftermarket hard top that has a much larger slide (maybe slides on both sides) or removable back window. That probably won't change my mind on the dual top but it is something to think about/ look forward to.

For hard top versions I just wonder why Jeep didn’t make that power window to just lower down the entire way, the whole window, not just a tiny section in the middle. I have seen many pickups where the back window just lowers down completely.

Unfortunately now the only truck that has a full power down window is a tundra crewmax. I wasnt expecting that but figured being a jeep you could just remove the window.

I'm hoping they're still tuning the tops before launch and that they'll put a bigger passthrough window in. I don't expect a whole window roll down option... even if I'd love to have one. I would like a full height sliding window that is 25-30% of the window so there is plenty of room to let my dog crawl through. This doesn't give me hope in that direction:

That is what I was really hoping for too, I really can not see why they could not make it a roll down window. I am a little disappointed but i guess a little sliding window is better then no sliding window.

If the whole window rolled down completely would that compromise ground clearance or get in the way of the drivetrain?

Larger window would be nice, but to be honest, I haven’t opened the small window on the back of my trucks in over 5 years.

My father opened the rear slider on his Ram last week so he could haul 16' sections of trim molding home from Lowe's without a trailer. The rear glass is more handy than you think. :)

I think that would prove to be some problematic engineering with a removable top...
