I looked at the 4xe Wrangler and Grand Cherokee a while back, but I don't think I realized they took premium gas, too. I suspect the Gladiator 4xe would require premium, too. I pay an extra dollar a gallon now for premium over regular. With the 4xe upcharge and need for premium gas, I am not sure it makes sense. The difference would be a lot of money left over for gas towards the Sport S Max Tow or negligibly less tow rated Rubicon or Mojave. Based on our test drive, I agree with you on the initial strong capacity diminishing quickly, as I am not sure how that works as the small battery gets depleted. Then you are towing with a smaller engine and the extra weight of the battery. Other folks arent' convinced the Wrangler/GC towing impact won't blow up their engines. I want to make getting the Gladiator work as it is definitely high on my list.

I have a Grand Cherokee 4Xe and I have not towed with it yet because I would rather use my Gladiator Mojave for that. I tow around 5k. I will say the 4Xe does not need premium fuel unless you get some crap gas then run a tank or two in it but it runs just fine. 4Xe's are not for everyone but in our case there is no diminished power after battery depletion, (there is a reserve you cant see) and the Jeep simply put hauls ass everywhere we go if we want to. This thing is a rocket to say the least you just don't hear the wonderful engine sounds which kinda sucks. Nothing sounds like a V-8 but a V-8. As far as mileage we get 24mpg when the engine is just running by itself and with the electric it depends on too many factors but much higher. We fill up our JGC about 1x per month because we drive sometimes more than the 26 miles of battery and that just happens sometimes. Funny I am on this forum and the 4Xe forum and how many people don't understand the 4Xe. The biggest issue is weight which is why the Wrangler rides so nice as a 4Xe but is/was a factor for the Gladiator.
