What if consumers banded together and demanded products that were deserving of their hard earned money? What do you think would happen?
Unless it is a certain niche product to a narrow demographic, economic boycotts rarely take to make the changes people seek. To many other will cross the line and dilute any economic activism.

Automakers have written off for the most part of having anything value or entry level oriented and thereby writing off the lower middle class and below of new vehicle ownership.

The inexpensive new cars for the masses are pretty much gone. Federal mandates for safety features, like backup cameras for all, have helped to drive up prices.

People are back to doing what my parents did, buying cast-offs from the upper class. They had a yellow '64 Lincoln with suicide doors. They drove it until the heads cracked. It ended up with one of the local welfare families, who drove it for years. They replaced the Lincoln with a loaded '75 Buick that a doctor got rid of after driving for a few years. It was passed down through several drivers and driven for a long time.
