I had the salesguy that sold me my Gladiator order me a rollup tonneau cover for the pickup's bed. He told me it would be a quick installation that I could do in about twenty minutes. Which I probably could except that when I opened the parts bag I saw that it contained two rivnuts for the front brackets. For anyone not familiar with a rivnut, here are two things to know. 1. It's like a drywall anchor except for steel, and 2. Nobody has a rivnut installion tool. I mean, this is a pretty arcane tool. So now I have to lug the tonneau back to the dealership next week where they'll charge me about a c-note to install the thing. Ag.

The manufacturer highly recommends that I not do that. In fact, there's a dire warning (you can tell it's dire; it's in red) in the instructions.

If you were closer, I'd loan you one of my rivnut tools. Maybe a member up by you has one.

Find a local shop, call them up, ask if they have a rivnut tool and if you could pay them for 15 minutes of their time doing 2 nuts.

I love Rivnuts, I used several to hold down a military antenna mount in the bed wall of my Gladiator. The only thing that could have been better is if I was able to reach the back side and slide a fender washer under the expanding side of the Rivnut to spread the load out.

I think I'll just buy one. Question: is there a setting for the amount of force on the tool?

Just bought the Wetols on Amazon. Cheaper than having a dealer install the thing.

I've used both a Rivnut tool and the washer/nut method for securing Rivnuts. Both work fine provided the bolts/nuts you are using are of sufficient quality. For this specific install it was easier for me to just use a bolt/nut/washer.
